If Gameday is even close to being accurate, it may as well be Stevie Wonder calling balls and strikes today.

Watching on TV produces the same conclusion.

The Reds are warming up for their trip to Milwaukee by finishing up a sweep over the Giants, including 7 runs yesterday and 9 into the 7th inning today.

Nobody is ever going to accuse Kratz of being a top tier catcher but over the last couple of weeks he's actually been a pretty decent. I have been pleasantly surprised by him lately despite a few costly miscues.

I know this won’t help the Debbie downers, but Yu Darvish left his rehab start after one inning.

They have been better than us with out him.

Oh, I forgot we never play the Cubs or Darvish. That surely wouldn’t even effect their wild card chase either then.

I Question how well he frames pitches, but he's batted adequately for the second catcher.

I assume it wasn't planned that way?

Indeed it was not.

Yu doing a good job of stringing his eventual surgery date far enough out for him to get paid $20+ million while missing all of 2019 as well. For as frustrating as this recent stretch has been, thank God the cubs gave Darvish a bigger offer than the brewers did this past offseason!

The guy hasn't pitched since May. He hasn't been any part of the equation for some time now. Don't know why him continuing to not be a part of he equation would change anything for anyone.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

I really can't ask much more from a backup catcher. He's hit just fine and his defense has been pretty good (I've been impressed with his arm). Even if he was bad, backup catcher is way down on the list of roster importance.

Admittedly I was pushing for Darvish a bit, but that turned out to be a disaster and would have been a huge mistake for the Brewers.

I get Yu Darvish hasn’t pitched since May (wasn’t pitching well anyway), but it is still Yu Darvish. I don’t know why the fact he hasn’t been a big part of the equation for so long means anything. Darvish would have been a nice addition for them to get back (potentially).

Is not getting Jimmy Nelson this year not a big deal? Never played this year anyway. No, it sucks and makes our team worse.

To be fair it is year number one of the contract. You can’t call it a disaster yet...though certainly not a good way to start. It’s like Cain being a success already. He could fall off a cliff next year and be a liability for all we know.

Sure, Nelson coming back at full strength would be a huge lift as would Darvish coming back for the Cubs. However, neither player coming back changes nothing. The Cubs are already better, adding Darvish means they are still better. The Cubs losing Lester or the Brewers gaining Nelson would have far more impact.

So glad I am viewing a GAME thread.

Yup, are you unfamiliar with how they work? It’s essentially a live chat about anything you want. Been that way the entire time I have been on this forum. Get used to it because that is how it is ran.
