2018-08-17: Brewers (Peralta) at Cardinals (Flaherty) 7:15 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 5-2]

Eye Black
I’ve never seen this much backlash against Counsell both on here, Twitter and radio following a game. Good to see. He deserves it today.

He has deserved it more often than today.

Maybe this is the game where the rest of the world is able to see that CC is in over his head when it comes to mangaing a baseball game.

Agreed. He deserves 95% of the crap he gets for his poor BP management.

FS Wisconsin showed about 25 seconds of CC’s postgame press conference.

He been terrible handling the pen

I agree more and more each game.

From how he handled Knebel ... how he handles guys when we can see plain as day they don’t have it that day ... and how he refuses to use any of the top half of the pen to keep a one run game a one run game ... I really am starting to think CC has a WAR of -5 or so right now...

Counsel aka the Jason Kidd of MLB. (Coach Kidd) not the player.

Caught in headlights look, robotic except not a smart robot, not even a robot like Bender from futurama. Emotionless, doesn't fight for his players against scrappy calls by the ump.

The guyy sucks as manager. There was almost a mini celebrarion few weeks ago when COUNSEL pulled his overall brewer record to like 1 or 2 within .500 haha.

Kept trotting out Boone Logan in tight games as well. When he clearly didn't have

Anyone know where brewers are in gidp? They have to be top 3. Lack of athleticism needs to be addressed in offseason as well.

Coming into tonight they were 4th in the NL with 97. The “top” 3 had 100, 99, and 98 and fewest was 71.

Thanks. Close enough to the top.

The Pirates hit into SEVEN DPs tonight while dropping their second straight 1-0 game to the Cubs.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

LOL, CC doubles down on his usage of Hader, plus Jeffress. It's ok to use your best relievers to protect a one run defecit once in a while. Hader could literally pitch in every game the rest of the season and still not come close to reaching CC's magic number of 90 games.

It's ok now when we do use Hader he will be rust and have trouble locating the zone. So either way we won't actually have the good hater next time out.

Okay, it's now continuing. Sophia threw out a softball asking if Chase struggling early is like Freddy struggling early.

Next question another easy one asking what their approach will be now that the standings are tightening.

Now he was finally asked about Jeffress and Hader in the most roundabout softball way possible -- he was asked if his approach will change with them and if he regretted anything.

He basically said he needs those guys for when they lead and they needed Lyles for the 8th tonight. Was prodded slightly to ask if that will change later and Counsell said maybe *if* they're rested. :laughing :laughing

Then he was timidly asked if even though Lyles was struggling if he still had confidence in him. :rolleyes . Duh.

Just absolutely the most softball tossing group of reporters that you could possibly ask for.

Managing the bullpen is probably the toughest job a manager has, especially in the NL. At least 25x a year a manager is going to get called out for mismanagement of the bullpen. With that said, there have got to be some cracks in the armor surrounding CC from the way Sterns is looking at this as if CC is the guy that can lead this team to the next level. There have a been a few really bad ones this year, but tonight is a real head scratcher on what he was thinking. No reason in a 1 run game that Hader, Jeffress, and Burnes are all sitting on the bench the whole night in a game that is basically a playoff game. Teams don't always let on when players are unavailable for various reasons, but if all those guys are unavailable the day after a day off-well, then I guess we should just start looking at next year.

No doubt about it. This was the absolute first question and it took them 20 minutes to get to it. You could tell everybody was waiting for someone else to ask. So bad. Horrible answers. Basically full confidence that Jordan Lyles is getting it done.

Counsell = Roenicke

Same dude.

Counsel lovers

'But RR went to 2 WS and won 1! So we have our guy!' :devil

I will defend RR a little and say, if he thought his player got screwed by the ump, RR would spazzzzzz out, in a good way. He has his guys backs.

Like I've said before she works for the brewers. She is not going to grill her employer on what went wrong. She should not even be in there asking questions.

The Milwaukee sports media is laughably weak

Soft. The bucks get away with under achieving because of the soft media in this state too.

Same with McCarthy, it's ashame Arod will only get to 1 SB in his career.. McCarthy gets No pressure from these guys.
