Final (Game One): DSL Rays2 8, DSL Brewers/Indians 1

DSL Brewers/Indians Box Score

This was the continuation of the suspended game from Friday.

RF Alejandro Marte stayed hot with a double and two singles, and 1B Rafael Brito added a double of his own, but that was about all the offense could muster in their 8-1 loss. Marte is now slashing .313/.386/.542 in the season's second half. Always beautiful to see these kids figure it out all of the sudden.

Lefty Joandris Tolentino started and give up a run over 4 innings.

Helena laying one on Grand Junction tonight (so far). Once again really impressed with Pablo Abreu and Bryan Connell at the plate.

Brice Turang with error #8 in 8 games with Helena. I don’t think that reflects what he’s capable of as a defender but certainly some mental lapses that need to be cleaned up.

Carolina 4, Salem 3

Mudcats Edge Red Sox 4-3 in Salem

Carolina earned a series tying 4-3 victory in Salem on Saturday night

cut.jpg

Devin Williams looks more likely to be released than added to the 40 man his last couple of performances. He threw only 26 strikes in 58 pitches and it looked worse than that. Hopefully, he isn't injured again. Nathan Kirby, on the other hand, went three scoreless innings in today's game. Luke Barker got the save (he leads the Carolina League in that stat with 17). Dallas Carroll and Robbie Rojas had two hit games.

Devin Williams: 2 2/3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 4 K

Nathan Kirby: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K

Luke Barker: 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K

Dallas Carroll: 2-4

Robbie Rojas: 2-3

(Michael Krebs)

Biloxi Box Score

Bad pitching + bad pitching = bad game for Biloxi.

The Shuckers lost 7-0 vs the Tennessee Smokies. Zach Davies went five innings in a rehab start, but was not sharp, giving up five hits, three walks and four runs in five innings of work.

Offensively, it was a game of missed opportunities for Biloxi. The managed seven hits and a walk, but they went 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. Blake Allemand led the way with three hits while Keston Hiura had two.

Batting

Keston Hiura: 2-4, 3B

Blake Allemand: 3-4, 2B

Clint Coulter: 1-3

Lucas Erceg: 1-4, 2B

Pitching

Zach Davies: 5.0 IP, 5 hits, 4 ER, 3BB, 3K, Lose

Josh Uhen: 1.0 IP, 0 hits, 0 ER, 1BB, 2K

Nattino Diplan: 1.1 IP, 2 hits, 3 ER, 1BB, 3K

So not only are the Oakland A's playing great, so is their affiliate (in the last two weeks at least).

SKY SOX FALL 3-2 AS NASHVILLE WINS 12TH STRAIGHT GAME

***

Box Score / Game Log

Sky Sox are wicked lucky (how's some Massachusetts lingo for you this AM?) that Oklahoma City has lost five in a row while the men from the Springs are in their own funk (PCL standings).

Snappers Take Game One From Rattlers With Big Third Inning

Beloit extends Wild Card lead over Wisconsin with victory in game one

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

***

Box Score / Game Log

Can never ask for a sweep, but the Rattlers need to take three of four, so not a great start.

Kenny Corey the only multi-hit game, now 5-for-his-last-7.

Former Indians farmhand RHP Christian Meister made his Rattlers debut after six Maryvale appearances (Brewers signing reminder post)

Box Score / Game Log

Je'Von Ward on base four more times, OBP up to .383; it's the Pioneer League, but still it's his ge 18 season.

Brice Turang's bat is ridiculous, you might say his glove is as well.

19-year-old Panamanian Bryan Connell (listed at 6'3", 195, has beast written all over him.

And Bryan Torres, from Puerto Rico, gives the Brewers the market on guys from places where you wouldn't expect to find a lot of guys named "Bryan".

Final: DSL Cubs2 3, DSL Brewers 2

DSL Brewers Box Score

Two singles and four walks managed to plate 2 runs, but good pitching from Leoner Colina and Jhoan Cruz wasn't quite good enough as the Brewers fall to the Cubs for the second straight day.

Final (Game Two): DSL Rays2 3, DSL Brewers/Indians 2

DSL Brewers/Indians Box Score

Reidy Cercado and Vitor Watanabe were both on base twice and Alejandro Marte stayed hot with another hit as well, but the co-op team loses both games of the double-header. Starter Moises Ruiz was once again effective with uninspiring peripherals.
