Speaking of Wilber's:

RHP Wilber Perez, the former Brewers farmhand who started the DSL All-Star Game two Sundays ago and was traded to the White Sox in the Joakim Soria deal, has already made two appearances for the DSL White Sox.

On Saturday, Perez tossed two scoreless relief innings (box).

Then, on just two days rest after that outing, Perez started for the club today and threw six no-hit innings, walking three and striking out three, lowering his ERA to 1.68 (box).

Hey, just seven levels from the big leagues, but still fun to follow, right?

So Perez' next outing following the no-hit stint was last night (Monday).

Wow, still impressive.

Wild game in Zebulon. Mudcats gave up a 3 run bomb with two outs in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game. Now they lead again with Lynchburg pitching unable to throw a strike in a downpour. Too bad for Braden Webb. He could have had two wins in two days and ends up with nothing.

Final: DSL Brewers 13, DSL Cardinals Red 12 (Game One)

It took extra innings, but the Brewers plated a run in the bottom of the ninth and then held the Cardinals in the bottom of the inning to earn a wild 13-12 victory in game one of their doubleheader. Catcher Andres Melendez was on base four times, going 3-for-4 with a double and a walk. Jesus Chirinos singled, doubled and drove in four runs while Larry Ernesto added two hits and stole his eighth base of the season. Santiago Elizondo started but lasted just 3.1 innings, allowing eight runs, seven earned. Abner Uribe worked three innings of relief and was credited with the win, and Jose Alberro tossed a scoreless ninth to earn the save.

Final: DSL Cardinals Red 12, DSL Brewers 4 (Game Two)

Game two didn't go quite as well for the Brewers, as the Cardinals scored seven runs in the fifth inning en route to earning a split with a 12-4 win. Leony Rosario started and was tagged with the loss after giving up six runs over 4.1 innings. Carlos Rodriguez paced the offense in the second game, going 2-for-3 and Juan Frias added two hits and an RBI.

Final: DSL Indians/Brewers 4, DSL Red Sox2 0

The co-op Crew got a strong pitching performance from starter Kleiber Bordones, who picked up his first win of the year after tossing 6.2 innings of scoreless baseball in a 4-0 shutout win. The bulk of the offense came courtesy of the Indians' batters, but third baseman Rafael Brito managed to contribute with a triple and a run batted in.

Kind of a unique day -- Wisconsin and Maryvale idle, Sky Sox day game, Mudcats make up a suspended game as part of a double-dip

Braden Webb started that game and went 5 IP giving up 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K. That now becomes official, where that was not included in his stats prior to today.

So now "officially" Webb has pitched on consecutive days - 11 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 13 K. Lowers his ERA from 4.20 after last night's game to 3.91 today.

Mudcats Swept In De Facto Doubleheader With Lynchburg

Carolina lost a 5-0 lead in game one before falling in extras 7-6 and losing game two 4-3

The first game was the completion of a suspended game in Lynchburg. Since Carolina will not go to Lynchburg again this year, the game was completed in Zebulon. Braden Webb threw the first 5 innings on the earlier occasion in Lynchburg. The Mudcats held a three run lead with two outs in the bottom of the 9th when Mitch Longo launched a three run home run to tie the game. Daniel Brown's line doesn't look good but he pitched better than that. They tried to get a 4th inning out of him and he ran out of gas. I don't think he has gone that far in a game very often this year. Luke Barker gave up the home run and went the remainder of the game. It was only the third home run and third blown save of the year for Barker. The Mudcats took a lead in the 10th and it looked like they would win when Demi Orimoloye threw out a runner at home. The next two hitters singled however to tie the game again.

Braden Webb: 5 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K

Daniel Brown: 3 2/3 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 4 K

Luke Barker: 2 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K

Weston Wilson: 2-3 (all on the earlier occasion)

Carolina Game 1 Log

Alec Bettinger went 4 innings giving up all four runs in the regularly scheduled game. Three pitchers followed for the Mudcats and allowed no more runs but the Mudcats bats could not rally. Mario Feliciano and Ryan Aguilar had two hits each. Rob Henry continues his strange batting line with a hit and a walk. He now has a .432 OBP with Carolina in which he has drawn 30 walks and has only 18 hits.

Alec Bettinger: 4 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 5 K

Phil Bickford: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K

Mario Feliciano: 2-4, 2B

Ryan Aguilar: 2-4, 2B
