August Waivers - Advanced Questions

We get the same waiver wire rules info and review each August. How about a little more depth to how these proceedings work? Anyone with this knowledge please pipe in....

 

Are the waiver wires similar to fantasy football? There you can see all the guys that are out there on waivers and any Owner from the league can put in a blind claim. You could put a claim in for three guys with the hope of getting one.... or you could end up with three. After the initial claim period is up (2 days?), the player goes to the team with the worst record (own league first).

 

Or is it a new daily list of new waiver guys each day that goes from team to team (same league worst record to best and then other league) where some teams don't even know a player is on waivers because he was claimed earlier by another team? This would take away the gamble of putting in multiple claims and getting multiple players. My guess is that it is not like this since a team gets some time (2 days?) to think about making a claim or not, correct?

 

Finally Are the standings (waiver wire claim order) taken from when a player is PUT ON waivers or when his waiver wire claim period is up? This could make a big difference in getting a player in a hotly competitive Wild Card race.
