So the Sky Sox roster is a bit bizarre right now --

- 26 players listed as active, but Tyler Saladino hasn't officially technically been activated after his option, that could happen tonight

- With the current roster showing 14 active pitchers, that's where the organization will need to make a move

- Three catchers, five outfielders (none of whom have infield defense flexibility), and only three active infielders pre-Saladino (Dylan Moore, Shane Opitz, and Nate Orf)

- Notice that recently re-signed infielder Eric Sogard is listed as on the AAA DL, whether a phantom move or not

Colorado Springs, losers of three in a row, three games back in the division race (no wild card in the PCL) - standings link.

And surely Manager Rick Sweet is just "going with the flow".

Final: DSL Brewers 11, DSL Tigers1 2

DSL Brewers Box Score

Big day for the offense saw RF Alwinson Valdez and 2B Victor Vargas each get three hits and two doubles, and Vargas added a triple as well. DH Oswel Leones launched his first pro home run and LF Jhonny David got his first career hit, a double. The Brewers drew 7 walks (including 2 from Andres Melendez) and capitalized on six Tiger errors.

Jose Romero and Robert Ortiz pitched the first 5.2 innings and combined to allow 2 runs on 4 hits but also 9 walks, so they were able to limit the free pass damage. Another day, this game would have been a slugfest. The lone remaining Wilber, Wilber Diaz, allowed nothing to close out the final 3.1 innings, and struck out 4.

Awesome. Good for those folks, they missed a great Brewers game, but this game was entertaining as heck as well.

We're so seriously spoiled. Chris and Kyle made a point of discussing not just the lack of MiLB TV in certain Midwest League outposts, but also the sometimes lack of radio coverage for road games.

Final: Colorado Springs 13, Reno 3

Your only online home for this road game summary...

SKY SOX SCORE DOUBLE DIGITS TO CLOSE OUT SERIES

RENO, Nev. – After dropping the first two games of this series, the Sky Sox left no doubt about taking the final game of the three-game set against the Reno Aces on Friday night with a 13-3 victory, including eight runs in the first two innings.

Dylan Moore set the tone for the evening with a leadoff homer for Colorado Springs in the first at-bat of the game. It was Colorado Springs' third leadoff home run of the season. The first came on 5/19 off the bat off Keon Broxton in game two of a doubleheader versus the Memphis Redbirds in Colorado Springs. The last came via Nate Orf on 6/15 at home against the Las Vegas 51s. Moore's leadoff homer is the first to come on the road for the Sky Sox this season. Orf flew out for the first out of the game, before Christian Bethancourt hit another solo homer for his team-leading nineteenth of the season to give the Sky Sox a 2-0 lead.

In the second inning, Broxton led off with a double. Rymer Liriano then singled to plate the speedy Broxton, before Shane Opitz doubled to put two in scoring position for Sky Sox starter Brandon Woodruff, who cleared the bases with a single of his own to make it 5-0. Moore then replaced Woodruff on first via a force out at second, advancing to second himself on a Reno error. Orf then doubled to plate Moore, with Bethancourt following suit with an RBI double of his own. With two outs, Jett Bandy singled to score Bethancourt and make it 8-0.

In the bottom of the third, Jamie Westbrook homered to make it 8-1 and out Reno on the board for the first time this evening.

The Sky Sox went on to score again in the fourth as well as the fifth. In the top of the fourth, Moore hit his second solo homer of the night to make it 9-1.

In the top of the fifth, Orf hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded to score Opitz to put Colorado Springs up by nine runs.

In the bottom of the fifth, Rey Fuentes drew a leadoff walk to put one on for Westbrook, who hit his second homer of the night on the first pitch of the at-bat to reduce the deficit to seven runs, at 10-3.

After a scoreless sixth frame, Colorado Springs poured it on in the top of the seventh with another three runs. Opitz led off with a walk, moving up on a Quintin Berry single. Orf walked to load the bases for Bethancourt, who hit into a ground out that scored Opitz. Domingo Santana then singled to score Berry and Orf to make it a 10-run affair at 13-3.

After two and a half more quiet innings, that score would hold, with the Sky Sox taking game three 13-3, falling in the series two games to one. Despite losing this game by ten runs, in the bottom of the ninth inning the Aces had a bright spot, with two outs and two strikes on the board, Ildemaro Vargas hit a triple to extend his hitting streak to 29 games.

The Sky Sox head to Tacoma for a four-game set against the Rainiers, before taking a day off prior to returning home to Security Service Field on the 9th to take on the Nashville Sounds.

Saturday's Preview: The Sky Sox begin their four-game set in Tacoma against the Rainers, with first pitch scheduled for 9:05 p.m. CST. Colorado Springs righty Adrian Houser is set to face Tacoma's right-hander Casey Lawrence. Houser is looking for his second win of the season, whereas Lawrence is in search of his seventh.

A Good Night for Homers: The two homers by Dylan Moore marks the fifth time that a Sky Sox player has hit a two-homer game against Reno. Moore also had a two-homer game in Memphis on May 25th, 2018. The last time a Sky Sox player had two 2-homer games on the road in the same season was Eliezer Alfonzo, who had a two-homer game on June 22nd, 2011 in Tacoma and on June 26th, 2011 in Salt Lake.

Box Score / Game Log

The trade of ji-Man Choi left Rick Sweet without any semblance of a true first baseman. It was Christian Bethancourt there Friday, just the second time in his career (both coming this season).

We conclude with Helena, talk about an entertaining game - holy cow!

What a night from top to bottom -- walk-offs for the big league Crew, the Rattlers, and the H-Crew! Wins elsewhere (DSL co-op team aside).

Soggy in Carolina, but they'll make up for it by winning two on Saturday.

Brewers Blitz Billings With Walk Off Win

Helena Now Owns Five Walk Off Wins In 2018

By Greg Mroz / Helena Brewers

Great job by Greg, not easy summarizing a game like this, no need to detail every single run, but he captures the night very well.

Do disregard the photo caption, although L.G. Castillo did net the game-winner later on...

And we needed that recap, because for the first time in quite a while, no video, photos, or feature Helena stories Friday night.

Standings shows why this was big.

Well, here then --

VIDEO: The full game highlight package via the Shuckers

In the highlight video he pronounce Supak as Shoo-pock. I would have guessed Soo-pak.

Great catch - full out running catch at the wall by Ray. Huira showing a decent arm. Aviles has some great range. Exciting stuff.

Well worth the time to look at that video.
