Who gets the boot when Schoop shows up?

TURBO
If anything with the new additions there should be less reliance on Aguilar. Even if he falls off a cliff we still have Braun that can be 1B vs lefties and Thames vs. righties. If aguilar just stops producing entirely he just goes back to being a pretty darn good power bat off of the bench.

Braun does have a 6 game hitting streak, so probably time to have him in the lineup more often while he's hot.

And though Aguilar only has a .202 AVG this month, he still has a .770 OPS.

Braun almost assuredly be in there tonight and tomorrow vs LH starters. I do think that based on this roster he should start vs every LHP, pinch hit, and defensive sub/double switch for Thames late in games.

I know he's hitting the ball hard so things could change, but Thames is a better option vs RHP right now.

All of this for saying 2% chance, wow. I still sense the general take has been sending him down is punishment based on a tough stretch at the plate. No, it would be a temporary move to let him work on his swing away from MLB for a week, then come back and help the team win the WS. Casey McGehee was sent down with no options I believe, I know it's happened with other players. If he goes 2-40 over the next two weeks they're really just going to let him sit on the bench? Maybe so, but I don't think saying there's a VERY SMALL chance they have him work on his swing in AAA is such a crazy idea. It's about trying different things to get him going again, not punishing him.

If you’re Aguilar, do you even accept the assignment? I know you say 2% but there’s 0% he clears waivers and probably 1% he would actually take the demotion.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I think what you are still failing to realize is that in order to get him to AAA he would have to be cut like Sogard and passed on by every other team in baseball. Saying there is any chance of that at all seems... outlandish.

Again -- there isn't a 2% chance. This has nothing to do with punishment or working on anything. Highly controlled players on a minimum salary who were All-Stars OPSing 1.000 at the AS break do not clear waivers. He would be claimed. Players having a season like Aguilar who go through a tough 6 for 50 stretch do not get outrighted off a 40 man roster. What you are saying with McGehee did not happen, he did not play in our Minor League system.

Yes, if he goes 2 for 40 over the next 2 weeks he will lose playing time and sit on the bench more. By then it'll be 2 weeks out from rosters expanding, and thus a moot point anyway.

So Aguilar would not have the choice to stay with the Brewers if someone claimed him off waivers? Either way, I will admit I was wrong.

we would pull him back from waivers when he's claimed and he'd be back on the Brewers.

there are different types of waivers after 31 july. the only type of waivers that could allow the brewers to send jesus aguilar to the minor leagues would not allow them to pull him back to the 40-man roster if another team showed interest. if another team showed interest, they wouldn't have to give up any talent to obtain aguilar--just a waiver fee--and the brewers would lose aguilar.
