Monday's Birthdays:

Biloxi's Clint Coulter turns 25 - since he'll be a minor league free agent this fall, this is likely our final Link Report birthday wish for him

Maryvale outfielder Pablo Garabitos turns 18 today -- the Floridian was the 25th round pick in this past draft, doing fine so far...

Biloxi Box Score

Blah game.

Jon Perrin was roughed up for six runs in four innings, while Shucker batters struck out an unsightly 16 times. That lead to a 6-3 lose vs. Pensacola.

At the plate, the Shuckers highlights included a birthday home run from Clint Coulter in the 9th. Happy birthday, Clint. Thanks. Richie Shaffer, who just joined the Brewer organization a couple of weeks ago, also homered for Biloxi.

Batting

Richie Shaffer: 1-4, HR

Luis Aviles, Jr.: 2-4, 2B

Clint Coulter: 1-1, HR, BB

Trent Grisham: 0-2, 2BB

Pitching

Jon Perrin: 4.0 IP, 10 hits, 6 ER, 0BB, 6K, Lose

SKY SOX FALL LATE TO ISOTOPES IN FINAL GAME OF SERIES

Box Score / Game Log

So had to watch to see what in the world happened here -- three shortstops in a blink of an eye:

Col. Springs Bottom of the 4th

Rymer Liriano singles on a ground ball to left fielder Noel Cuevas.

Offensive Substitution: Pinch-hitter Andres Blanco replaces Jake Hager.

With Andres Blanco batting, Rymer Liriano caught stealing 2nd base, catcher Anthony Bemboom to shortstop Daniel Castro.

Andres Blanco hit by pitch.

With Aaron Brooks batting, Andres Blanco caught stealing 2nd base, catcher Anthony Bemboom to shortstop Daniel Castro.

Aaron Brooks called out on strikes.

Albuquerque Top of the 5th

Andres Blanco remains in the game as the shortstop.

Noel Cuevas singles on a soft ground ball to second baseman Jonathan Villar.

Defensive Substitution: Nate Orf replaces shortstop Andres Blanco, batting 8th, playing shortstop.

First of all, no news was given on why Jake Hager was lifted, at least at the time; perhaps it was revealed later in the broadcast.

The Andres Blanco HBP was in the back, but it wasn't why he eventually exited.

When Blanco was caught stealing, it was awkward and he certainly appeared to tweak a knee, and was gimpy as he returned to the dugout.

On the infield single up the middle to open the top of the 5th, Blanco was visibly still hurting as he ranged over, so they pulled him.

More drama later in the game, I didn't stick around for the broadcast --

Ejections: Colorado Springs Sky Sox Hitting Coach Dave Joppie ejected by HP umpire Clay Park (6th); Colorado Springs Sky Sox Manager Rick Sweet ejected by HP umpire Clay Park (8th)

You just read about it, now see why the final out was a gut-buster...

AUDIO via the Rattler Radio Soundcloud: "Chris Mehring & Kyle Lobner discuss a few of the turning points in the game and bring up a few statistical points before heading to the clubhouse for comments from Matt Erickson, Christian Taugner, and Tristen Lutz."

Tough to find anything extra worthwhile to point out here beyond Lutz' night highlighted above, to be honest.

Dimas exits after making the catch. Injury precaution, we'd imagine.

Osprey Double Up Brewers To Win Series Opener

Brewers Tie Game Down Five But Allow The Last Seven

By Greg Mroz / Helena Brewers

cut.jpg

Helena, MT - The Brewers on Monday night at Kindrick Legion Field fell in a five run hole early to Missoula, but came back to tie the game with a five run sixth. However, the Osprey scored three in the seventh and fourth in the eighth to cruise to a 14-7 victory over the Brewers. Helena has now lost four straight home games for the first time all season.

Missoula got the scoring started in the second as Zach Shannon blasted a solo homer to dead away center field. Helena quickly countered in the bottom of the second with a solo blast of their own, courtesy of LG Castillo.

The Osprey though busted the game open initially in the third, as all nine men came to the plate with five runs scoring. Eddie Hernandez, Buddy Kennedy, and Nick Dalesandro each had RBIs, while Zac Almond drove home two with a double.

Helena got a run back in the fourth on a Pablo Abreu solo homer, but gave it right back in the fifth as Almond left the yard to deep right center, his eighth of the year.

The Brewers furious comeback came in the sixth, as they sent all nine to the plate, scoring five to tie the game. Je'Von Ward started the scoring with a 2 RBI double, and Abreu and Jose Sibrian doubled home runs to make it a one run ballgame. Sibrian would score on a wild pitch with Yeison Coca up, tying the game at seven.

Helena's tie would be short lived, as three straight Osprey singles gave them the lead back in the top of the seventh against Tate Budnick (L, 0-1). Two more in the frame scored on a sac fly from Shannon and an error on a Dalesandro ground ball.

Missoula then busted the game open with a four run eighth, highlighted by another two RBI double from Zac Almond. Almond finished the night 3 for 5 with five RBI, marking the second time this season he's driven home five in a game.

Helena finishes up the quick two game series tomorrow at 7:05 PM as Wilfred Salaman takes the hill. Righty Andy Toelken goes for Missoula, making his second start of the year.
