For the love of god though CC, please do not play the "surrender" lineup tomorrow. I do not want to see Perez anywhere on the field, and if Aggie needs a day off, get Braun in there.

It's getting to the point where there isn't such a thing as the "surrender" lineup that CC could come up with anymore.

Braun

Perez

Thames

Saladino

Arcia

Shaw

Kratz

Moustakas

I guess that is the surrender lineup(not in order)? Still not too bad of a lineup.

Anyone complaining about today's lineup I bring you the Brewers lineup 2 years ago today.

1. Jake Elmore 3B

2. Scooter Gennett 2B

3. Hernan Perez SS

4. Cris Carter 1B

5. Kirk Nieunhwiess RF

6. Martin Maldonado C

7. Keon Broxton CF

8. Ramon Flores LF

9. Zach Davies P

I had to look up this game, and it looks like the Brewers defeated Robbie Ray and the Diamondbacks 6-4 in this game. The available pinch hitters in this game weren't that much better either; Ryan Braun was pulled from the lineup so he likely wasn't available, Jonathan Lucroy was available off the bench but this was a few days before he was traded so the Brewers probably didn't want to take too many risks with him, Jonathan Villar was available but was benched because he made a poor base running decision in the prior game (the infamous 5 errors in the first two innings game), and the great Andy Wilkins was the last bench position player available.

Also, Ramon Flores was intentionally walked in this game.

I love how one move and a good game suddenly makes our offense this great beast. A week ago the sun was on its way to collide with earth and we should sell. Now the the forum is upbeat ready to reserve postseason tickets.

Times like this make me honestly wonder if a big acquisition can actually make the clubhouse more upbeat and make the team play better as a whole.

It also helps that Yelich is on fire and the bottom of the lineup has more than 1 hit for the week.

Absolutely it can. Think of Tennis and the ability to "acquire" a new #1 for your team. While baseball isn't a game of 1:1... it allows your best player previously to now take on the #2, your #2 to take on the #3 role, etc...

Maybe a better example, think of Big Ten Bowl Season. If you're the Big Ten Champion and playing the SEC runner-up, and everyone below you is also playing a team one-rung lower, you're going to have more chance of success being consistently favored.

Sometimes, the old school diehards with their talk of "chemistry" and "momentum" and "energy" just might be on to something.

I believe the closest to a no-hitter I have ever seen is Yovani Gallardo who got one out in the 8th before blowing it.

Our closest no-no besides Nieves was Odell Jones, lost after 8.1 IP

I watched the Odell one on TV, he was pretty much hyperventilating on the mound in the 9th.

Yep these things are all true except when they aren't. If a move works it gets called chemistry and if it doesn't you just don't talk about it. The teams chemistry has not changed because of Moustakas, that is simply absurd to say after half a game.

Posted this back in the spring, but this podcast discussed that game briefly...

AUDIO via the Effectively Wild Podcast, Episode 1204: Ben Lindbergh, Jeff Sullivan, and Baseball Prospectus writer Russell Carleton discuss Russell’s new book, The Shift. At the 43:00-minute mark they do a stat blast segment in which Carleton shares a story where he compares Bartolo Colon’s unlikely outing on Sunday to his father taking him to an Indians game on May 28, 1988 when they faced the Brewers and journeyman pitcher Odell Jones. Jones was starting in place of Teddy Higuera who had been scratched from the start, and proceeded to pitch a perfect game into the 8th inning.

Here is a short Article Link on that very game.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

The Brewers are going to be seeing a lot of left handed middle relievers with this lineup, not that Yelich cares these days.

Good thing they'll have scored 6 runs in most cases. This lineup is going to destroy RHPs. LHP maybe not so much.

Then there was the Sabathia no hitter that wasn't ruled a no hitter, even though we all know it was a no hitter...

The lengths teams will let players go to get their no-hitters. Someone recently went some insane 140+ pitchers to get theirs. Though to be fair I think it was a perfect game.
