Cubs Acquire Cole Hamels from Rangers

Eye Black
Thing to note again is that we were on Hamel's no trade list.

Can we stop with this misinformation... While it was true that the Brewers were on Hamel's no trade list, it is also true that he said multiple times that he would waive the no-trade clause to go to a contender!!!!! The second part negates the first part...

That doesn't mean that if the Brewers and Cubs called offering a similar package that Hamels, with knowledge of this, couldn't have influenced this...or maybe the Rangers could've thrown him a bone as well.

Please provide evidence that GMs discuss their trades with the players in advance and specifically this trade... Thanks...

Exactly, we don't know what it would've led to. Maybe he would've demanded his option be picked up, maybe he would've waited to see what else came through and chose CHC instead. All I'm saying is that it was a hurdle. It's not misinformation, it's true and most here probably didn't know it. Sure it could've been overcome but it was in the equation.

Sorry, but not stating all of the information is being misleading... not some rule I made up, pretty standard logic...

I think most of the starters you mention have been good (Lynn, I'm not so sure. Starting to struggle again and he (like all of these guys, it seems) has only faced garbage offenses as well).

I'm not a big fan of discounting offense simply because they are in the lower third of baseball. These are major league caliber players and they have plenty of talent. It's not like the teams are made up of AA prospects or Independent league players... The reds offense (with or without Votto) isn't very good, but they've lit up the Brewers pithcer's plenty so is our pitching staff made up of a bunch of hacks?

Honestly, a lot of these teams these guys are facing are made up of AA players right now.

Gausman has seen the Mets once and the Marlins twice. Lynn has seen the White Sox twice. Hamels has seen the Mets once, the Royals once.

The NL guys have drawn the Pirates, who you're right, have hit the Brewers well this year but are kinda beaten up right now.

The Mets, Royals, White Sox, and Marlins literally are made up of AA players right now. Gausman has seen a Marlins a few times with Starlin Castro hitting cleanup and something called Ortega leading off.

I'm not 100% discrediting them. It seems like Gausman has mixed in his changeup more so he also may be legitimately "fixed" at this point as well. But I'd expect Chase Anderson to shut down that trash Marlins lineup as well. When Anderson faced them he gave up 3 ER (not bad) but the lineup had Realmuto, Bour, and other competent MLB players in it.

Wouldn't not stating that he had a no trade clause be not stating all the information? You seem to be telling me to withhold info, seems standard logic to me there. I'm merely the one stating the information. You're making assumptions that are impossible for joe schmos like us to know. At some point when making his list of no trade team, he put us on as a spot he'd prefer not to go. Take it for what it's worth, people can make their own decision. But I'm sure Lucroy said at some point he just wanted to go to a contender too and we saw what happened. It was another thing in the equation and gave him leverage.

I don't know why this is a fight. This is a fact, and based on people's posts on here that I didn't think people were aware. I was making them aware, that's it.

The Brewers failed to make a move for a starter that was needed. He really needs to focus on that during the offseason. It will really stink not making the playoffs this season but i am really starting to change about trading prospects for established players. I would keep as many arms as possible

Johnathan Lucroy said something similar. "A" contender does not always mean "any" contender.
