Well, pretty safe to say they aren't standing pat.

 

What they have done, though, is manage to pick up a couple big potential contributors for guys that were marginal future contributors.

Stearns has a knack for trading guys that still have intrigue for proven MLB experience. He is gonna win those trades more often than not.

Standing pat also means you may end up with a farm system full of guys that don't pan out, and their value becomes zero. Let's face it - most won't pan out. Stearns' eye in that regard seems legit.

Until Stearns gets burned, he deserves the benefit of the doubt
