That's a huge bummer for him and the team. Very valuable guy. With where this is happening in the year, probably won't be back until 2020.

It will be interesting what this injury will do to his career. I hope he is still in the dugout for the remainder of the season.

I was thinking the same thing. If TJ costs him any velocity, that's probably it for him. I'm not sure he ever makes it back to a major league mound.

At that point, does he try to go full Rick Ankiel? He may be a serviceable hitter with full focus, and he's plenty athletic to play a corner outfield.

Really I'm fine with giving Woodruff a few starts. Gave up that 3 run shot on Friday but overall he's looked ok. That's probably the simplest thing to me. Although I guess they still have 5 starters with Miley, Anderson, Chacin, Guerra, Peralta. As much as we pick on Miley he hasn't been bad. I'm sure another will have an injury in the next few weeks, at which point hopefully Davies is ready.

If he loses velocity, he just becomes a left-handed Doug Jones. He's never relied on velocity before, and in fact, got dinged a bit for NOT having it... so I think he'll be fine, but a 2020 return is likely.

I wonder if this changes their deadline plans. You can't be putting Aaron Wilkerson out there every 5 days in a playoff race.

Don't think this will affect the trade deadline in any way. Still have Guerra, Anderson, Chacin, Davies, Peralta, Woodruff, and potentially Burnes. I can't think of a scenario where Wilkerson will be starting again. Wilkerson, at best, will be the September mop-up guy.

Watch the Raptor come back throwing mid 90's in 18 months...

Bummer for Brent - hoping he makes a full and speedy recovery and resumes his MLB career! Also hoping this opens the door for ending the 6 man rotation chatter and Davies finally gets right enough to be both a healthy and effective starter in Milwaukee.

I think you can throw Miley out there until he actually pitches bad. He's been fine. I have my doubts that it continues but his 3 starts where he didn't get hurt he has thrown 17 IP and allowed 4 R (3 ER). Keep trotting him out there until he actually has a bad start or two.

Consider me very skeptical of Miley.

Walks have been what hurt him on other teams and here he sits with 11 in only 17 innings with us. He keeps doing that and it's only a matter of time before those free passes come around to score runs.

I love guys like Suter but this is worse news for Suter than it is for the Brewers. The reason depth is important is when someone like Suter goes down there is someone like Suter to replace him. This should also be a warning sign about the perils of trading depth for a single established player. Trading several guys like Suter for one better player means you have to rely on one player too much. Stick to the plan of acquiring depth and let the chips fall where they may.
There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Bummer news on Suter, but its not the end for the Crew.

I don't think they can stretch Burnes back out but it does set up an interesting possibility (especially once Davies is back)... Piggyback Burnes with 1 of the others.. That other person goes 3 or 4 IP and then Burnes comes in for 2 or 3 IP. Basically getting the game thru 6 innings.

If the Crew is looking to manage the IP of Peralta or concerned about the extended effectiveness of Miley or Davies, Burnes could help by being a bridge to the later innings.
