That was a 9 pitch AB for Cain... Hardly a clear fail...

That really doesn't mean much against a reliever.

 

Wut? I think it means he was battling. Striking out on 3 clear pitches would back up your "sit Cain" opinion, but 9...

I know he hasn't had great success here so far but I like Woodruff. Hard thrower and gets a lot of ground balls........breaking stuff seems to be improving

 

Arguably one of the hardest throwers in the organization. Pretty sure I saw a 99 flash up on my screen that inning, and several 98s as well. If he doesn't make it as a starter, that is high-end back-of-the-pen stuff. He is getting overlooked and overshadowed by Peralta, Burnes and Hader, but I think he is a big part of this team in the future ... if he doesn't get dealt in a big trade.

The thought of Hader, Burnes, Peralta, Woodruff all in a rotation is good stuff. Probably mathematically impossible all end up as starters that live up to the hype all at the same time, but fun to dream about.

What, you don't believe a guy needs a rest after just having four days off?

 

Trade probably hasn't happened yet, but for sure there is something getting finalized where twins management told Molitor to get all the potential trade chips out of there with the game in hand to avoid injury.

 

If it's the brewers I would be surprised if anything is official until after their game ends - particularly if any brewer currently on the active roster is involved.

Looking like a good night to get a game back in the standings on the cubs. They got blasted by the dbacks tonight with a bad farrell start that was required due to their own 5 game, 4 day series right after the break against stl.

 

They are going to need more pitching help, particularly if Darvish gives them nothing of value over the next few weeks.
