I'm fine with that. Hamels has been pretty bad

Cubs need Hamels to make up for two guys the Brewers were linked to or that fans wanted. Chatwood has been a mess. Cant pitch deep into games and walks everyone. Darvish cant get on the field and was bad when he was.

Hamels is a logical target for the Cubs because his contract is prohibitive for many teams to get involved. He's owed roughly $9 million the rest of the season, that's no small dollar amount when it's for 2 months. They might be able to get this done. I liked the idea of targeting Hamels previously, but at the moment I don't think he's a great fit. I do hope we get involved to make it more expensive for the Cubs though...

Saying Cubs would take on $4M of $14?? That seems a bit extreme and desperate from the Rangers end.

He's been pretty darn bad this year. I definitely wouldn't be scared of the Cubs adding him as their only move. And if they blow any kind of asset on him... gravy.
