Possible snag in Machado deal to Dodgers. Sources indicate that one or more of prospects coming to #Orioles have some issues in their physicals. Surprise surprise. May open door for other clubs. Stay tuned.

Come on Dodgers...or any AL team. I shudder at the cost to bring an elite rental like him to Milwaukee.

This is fantastic

If David is updating his offer, he's scrambling to find an acceptable substitute for Luis Ortiz.

I think it actually took BIG GIGANTIC ENORMOUS stones not to give up our future for Machado.

It would have been easy to give the O's what they wanted. A lot harder to stick to your guns in this situation.

Stearns has very large stones imo.

Brilliantly put! The fact he was attacking top bat in trade market & just fell in a close 2nd in pretty competitive race shows he has the stones to go after it & stones to stick to what he believes is the true value.

No, all it shows is that he thrives on getting praise for getting close. "I'm trying really, really hard" doesn't cut it. The team will be out of it after they get blasted by the Dodgers the next couple weeks.

Man, just another terrible take completely devoid of logic.

I'd like to feel excited about this, but even if he became available again, if Baltimore pivoted to the reported "2nd best offer", I'd be afraid to see what that is after seeing what the first best offer was.

And what was the first best offer? Some local LA reporter said Diaz, May, Robinson last night while Heyman said 5 players to O's and no money coming back to LA (I highly doubt May is joining Diaz in a package that includes 5 guys when no money is heading back).

I honestly can't imagine us getting involved at the reported price. The deal probably just needs to be tweaked with the Dodgers. I just posted that because I found it hilarious.

But if its true that's 2 players in Baseball Prospectus Top 50, plus three others, which would likely make it pretty much unbeatable without including Hiura. Or Arcia at minimum

I would guess it depends on who the prospect(s) in question is/are. If it's the 4th or 5th guy in the deal, probably a quick tweak and a done deal.

If it's with Diaz, then this could be significant.

Fair enough. Diaz is generally expendable for the Dodgers, much moreso than Ruiz or other top guys. And I doubt the Dodgers want to include Verdugo if Diaz is a no go. I also believe Diaz had some injury issues this season, I picked him up 2 months ago in my dynasty league and remember him getting hurt.

How hilarious would this all be if Machado ends up in a Brewers uniform on Friday instead of a Dodgers.

Well, if any team could use some positive PR right now ....

If there ever were a "TRAP" trade... this is becoming it now... Hopefully DS keeps his wits about him because yes... this would be a welcome positive note.

Chacin, Anderson, Nelson, Burnes, Peralta as your starting 5. Woodruff next in line to be given a tryout (6th man will always get plenty of chances), Suter (Long relief role), Guerra and Davies (Unless traded) available as depth

I’m just curious but what does “available as depth” mean? After the year Guerra has had you’re going to move him to the pen? Or the minors?

I don’t mean to pick on you I’m just pointing out we have more than enough depth pitching wise for next year. More than enough. Trading a guy or two, I’d argue, isn’t just ok it’s necessary. I personally want to keep Burnes but if we trade Peralta and/or Woodruff for a quality veteran I’d be perfectly ok with that.

You can almost never have more than enough. I'm fine dealing maybe one, but you can move guys with certain skillsets to the bullpen or have them as shuttle guys if they have an option.

Hader, Peralta, Anderson, Davies, Guerra as your rotation. Chacin/Suter both as long-relief swingmen. Chacin could be Burnes in the Hader role for one more year until he moves into the rotation. Chacin kills RH batters so he'd be a good reliever.

I'm not sure we can count on Nelson. If he's in there, maybe you deal one of those guys before the season.

Diaz had two different injuries throughout the year. The latest being a hip issue. The Orioles could be concerned with that. If it's Diaz who the snag is with I see the Brewers getting him. If it's not. I'd be shocked if they don't find common ground to find replacement players. Either way this is peak Baltimore.

So you're saying there's a chance...

i was shocked at mlb announcing a certainty with the dodgers. Shocked because im a nobody, and they have all the conx.

I still think he is a brewer though even though all reports have the papers getting signed with the dodgers.
