This is why I'm so glad social media wasn't around when I was a teenager. We all say/do dumb stuff as teenagers. He's still a good dude. Oh,and his girlfriend is a minority...

How is it in this day and age that someone from our public relations team is not sifting through old tweets of at least the high profile players from our team and catching these things before they become public?

Because the Brewers' social media team's sole focus is to film cutsey videos of Hank the Dog.

I think the Brewers are a bit of a wounded bird right now. The excitement of the Machado trade, and the Dodgers general upward trend might extend our recent problems. The Dodgers should be pumped up. I think DS will make two moves, one arm and one bat, but he won’t be giving away much of anything in the upper echelon of our system. I expect we steady ourselves by early August and then take a run at the wild card. As said about twelve times already on this thread, the Brewers never were in a position to beat out the Cubs, but I could see them still ending up with the 3rd or 4th best record in the NL. What I hope most of all is that DS proves a team can still make the playoffs without limiting they’re future with CC and Greinke type moves.

Should that be the answer though? Not that we need to be mindful of our own character, but instead, our employer needs to pay somebody to hide our behavior from the public on our behalf?

It's more for the team's behalf, not the player.

I expect them to come out a bit flat and I pray that Stearns doesn't try to go for it this season. We need to get a reasonable rotation in place before we start selling off commodities. Next year Peralta can be stretched out for a full season more or less, at least at that point we have a start on the rotation. The Cubs are not going to keep getting better, they have no minor league system and have made a number of really bad moves recently, there is no reason to think this is some sort of down year for them compared to what is coming.

This may be a playoff roster but it is not a contending one and a trade or two isn't going to make it one.

Manny Machado 9th inning homer to win game one. We get swept.

That seems to be what would be "so Brewers" right now.

Optimistically I'm thinking we take the series 2-1. And hopefully by the end of next week we get a couple new shiny toys under the trade deadline tree. IF not, it may be a slow slide down the rungs in the NL.

Whats the rotation coming out of the break? Havn't seen starters announced. Chase, Chacin, Peralta, Miley, Suter? Have no clue when Davies or Guerra will be ready to pitch. Would prefer Suter to pen and Woodruff to start but who knows what they are thinking.

How is our roster going to look? We put too many guys on the DL in the last week for me to keep track of who went where and when...

Thames, Villar are both out for a bit yet, yes? Braun? Pina? What roster moves are we making in the next 24 hours?

There is plenty of room to argue whether the Brewers should go all in this year versus waiting for next year or some other time in the future. As a small market team, the Brewers really don't have a lot of margin for error. The rich big market teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, Cubs, and Dodgers can eat the contracts and go forward. If they can't get the right guy at whatever price, they'd be foolish to try.

What I don't understand is your statement that the "Cubs are not going to keep getting better". What makes you think that? Each of the Cub's starters are 28 or younger (although Heyward and Rizzo turn 29 next month). Why do you think they won't get better as they move through their prime years? As for their "lack of a farm system". I find it hard to imagine that the upper reaches of any farm system wouldn't be temporarily depleted after graduating the likes of Contreras, Baez, Russell, Bryant, Schwarber, Almora, and Happ.

I really do disagree with you on your statement that this isn't some "down" year for them. They're getting next to nothing from Darvish and little from Chatwood and both Bryant and Rizzo have been off their norms. That's why I am surprised that the Brewers haven't pushed more chips into the pot, because I think they might have a unique opportunity to "steal" one from the Cubs.

Starting with two of your back end rotation guys against a 1st Place team, coming off the All Srar break, riding a 6 game losing streak.... Sorta feels like a white flag. Depressing. I hope I am wrong.

Yeah, they are giving up. No use even showing up anymore.

Sheesh! I get that it hasn't been a great week for Brewer baseball, but the Debbie Downers are starting to get a little overpowering around here.

If we haven't had a history of falling off the cliff in the second half of a season more often than not we wouldn't be seeing these depressing posts. Until the Brewers show us they can overcome these bumps in the road we will continue to see negative posts like those in this thread.

Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain and our current middle infield and most of our bullpen and half of our rotation and to a smaller extent THE ENTIRE REST OF THE ROSTER except for Braun have nothing to do with this team's past failures to close out a September. Let's give them a chance, yeah?

I am starting to think DS is going to make a trade out of left Field or go with the players he currently has.

Wow, if he really does trade Braun for something and gets Braun to sign off on it, mad props to that! If he trades off Yelich, I'd be less than pleased though.
