2018-07-14, Game #2: Brewers (Suter) at Pirates (Holmes) 3:05 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 6-2]

Eye Black
What this team really needs is a man in a tux in the dugout playing a small violin after every time the Brewers are done batting.

Counsell fits the build. I like it.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Wilkerson and his 9.00 ERA needs to be DFA'd asap....gas can..

I always do a slight chuckle when someone has a post that lists him in our strong pitching depth. Like you would want that guy anywhere hear your 25 man roster.

Starting pitching is still far from this teams biggest weakness...they are not a good offensive club

I agree. To clarify my point, the addition of two all-stars was supposed to fix what ailed this lineup, it hasn't. Now folks want to use more assets to acquire yet another all-star to take another stab at "fixing" the offense. How many all-stars are we going to need to acquire before the offense is actually good? Even if they could do that, the pitching still wouldn't be good enough and we are seeing that now. Do we deploy even more assets to fix the pitching as well? We obviously don't have the assets to do that which begs the question, why make any significant moves at that point? Starting pitching may not be our biggest weakness, but it is a weakness.

This is why I think the guy in charge of hitting needs to be held at least partially culpable at some point. We made significant changes in the offseason intended to fix this offense, and we're still sitting at square one.

Yes, this offense has weaknesses but going out and either trading for or spending 16M a year on a stud for every position isn't realistic. Coles has run his course.

that was obvious last year when we broke our own mlb for so.

We can get 8 or 9 hits a game but we continue to fan so we strand batters. Not having Coles couldnt be worse.

Wilerson gotta be over 10.

Given the situation, what choice does Counsell have?

At any rate, this crap show in Pit has a silver lining as Counsell is forcing Stearns hand on Machado or Escobar + Dozier.

Bases loaded.....Villar....another so.

Trade arcia, burns, broxton.

This fan base has a decidedly strong bent for the scrappy underachiever types. It's amazing how hardly defended a guy like Sogard was up until the very end.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Orf will be another interesting case.

After we get swept In this series, I’ve changed my tune and don’t think that we should be buyers this year. This team has too many holes to patch via trades.

Agreed. Even a guy like Machado isn't enough to fix all our issues.

I'm off the trade for Machado bandwagon now. Machado alone is not going to fix everything that ails this team, nor is any other stud on the trading block be it a pitcher or position player. No need to give up prospects anymore.

Yeah, but all that was true before the last two series.

Can we just forfit tomorrow and hit the ASB? This team is toast for now. Hope the rest does them well

Cain, Yelich, Saladino and Aguilar should all sit out tomorrow. Not even kidding about this.

I agree. That will make a strong statement, albeit not as subtle as Counsells other statements, to Stears.

Lets keep pitching this Wilkerson stiff and bring back that other stiff Zski. And lets just leave hader and others on the bench so Pit can expand leads.

Cubs gotta smell blood. We are dropping bad but hopefully we dont freefall like the Dbacks as we snag machado or escobar + someone.

Yes, a guy like Nottingham will get run out of town on a rail.

:laughing I agree. It’s really interesting who fans give long leashes to and who they don’t.
