82, I'm just giving you the odds. You have 1st and 3rd nobody out, and you willingly turn it into 1st and 3rd 1 out, your odds of scoring obviously go down, statistically. JV is right to say Thames, while a good hitter, is both an enormous K and double play risk and thus makes those odds even worse and makes the decision even more questionable.

A starting pitcher has to go more than 4+ innings at some point this week. The limitations of this roster are being pushed right now and that is exposing the weaknesses. If they have first and third with one out and Thames and Cain coming to the plate, I expect a run.

This SOL beer commercial can go away anytime now...

I just hate the constant barrage of the same commercials night after night after night after night after night after night...

Feldco windows, CALL NOW!

Leinenkugels and that whistling tune...

Gruber Lawffices.....One call, that's all...

Pizza Ranch and all those ridiculous cliche's from Craig C...................................UGH!

I'm watching on MLB.tv and they have been running this Keytruda ad nonstop for the past month or so. I'm happy the guy in the commercial is living longer with cancer but the commercial is driving me insane!

Thanks for blowing a great scoring opportunity by handing them a free out just so you can inevitably pull Miley in a couple hitters anyway, Craig. Hope it was worth it.

Why are we the only ones to know this ahead of time? Can't CC figure this out himself. It is maddening...

I'm not saying Counsell isn't a good manager, but sometimes it feels like the game instincts are lacking.

I posted last night that if he leaves Peralta in to face the pitcher, he's going to walk him in and walk in a run.

Ended up being the deciding run. Pulled him after the walk. If he pulls him before the walk, we likely win.

Well, you can expect a run, but the numbers will tell you it still has a very good chance chance, I believe around 44%, of not happening.

I agree with all of this... The bullpen is starting to crack because they’re exhausted. I’m sure the value in the dugout is placed on SP innings at the expense of one AB.

Exactly, particularly with the top of the order coming up.

It feels like if we do not hit HRs, we do not score. We rely heavily on the long ball, but hey, CHICKS DIG THE LONG BALL!

I'm pretty sure that has been the case for a while now. Couple of seasons at least.

I disagree with all the above. You have Houser in there he should've been starting the top of the fifth inning.

They should've pinch-hit for Miley with nobody out in the fourth inning, it isn't like we have many scoring opportunities.

They got purely lucky that Miley didn't give up any runs in the fifth. You piggyback Houser on Miley's game, and then you ship him down to Aaa after the game is over and replace him with another arm. Doesn't affect the bullpen overusage at all.

It’s really tough to enjoy watching the crew right now. It feels like we’re two hitters away, at least

Pretty much the case around MLB right now.

I really don't think any of this is very true. They're constantly rotating bullpen guys in and out by design. Hader has pitched twice in the entire month of July. Burnes has pitched once since his promotion.

The design of this pitching staff is and will continue to be short starts and quick hooks and take advantage of a deep pen. If we can deep starts from guys like Anderson or Chacin, we'll welcome it, but forcing it isn't the answer. Sacrificing scoring opportunities to squeeze one more inning out of someone like Wade Miley isn't a good strategy.

Sure it does. Maybe Hauser successfully eats an inning or two. Maybe he doesn't. At some point, shuffling in your last men in the bullpen catches up with you... and you end up losing close games like last night. Do you think Counsell wants Lopez in the game in a situation last night's? Of course not.... but he had no choice.

The focus is, and should be, on both the rest of the series and the rest of the season. These guys are eating a TON of innings. I'm sure getting as much as they can out of Miley or whomever was the goal tonight.
