You really need to go get him before he walks the pitcher for a run.

Or just let him do it Craig, whatever.

If he is an untouchable prospect the minimum expectation is that he should be able to throw strikes to the opposing pitcher.

We kind of tend to overrate the heck out of Peralta here as a prospect.

His numbers are fantastic but we've churned out lots of guys who put up elite numbers for 8-10 starts before the league catches up to them (Fiers, Jungmann, just to name two).

Peralta could end up being the real deal but we have really jumped the gun on him acting as though he's a top 50 prospect value now.

Agreed, the kid has some work to do.

For me it’s not that I know he will be the next ace of the Brewers but he could be. He has a shot to be a very good pitcher. I’ll take the chance and so he needs to stay a Brewer. We always want young controlled arms but when they come up and pitch for us, a lot of fans hate it. I don’t understand.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Well that's one way to limit Peralta's innings.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I agree with all of that.

It's the dilemma of patience with young arms versus the position that we're in where we want to make the playoffs and win now.

Woodruff has probably the same or better upside as Peralta, but we're not willing to be patient enough to give him the whole year in the MLB rotation and leave him alone. If it was 2016, we probably would.

Barnes' OPS-A this year is .709 - not terrible but not great. His BABIP this year is .350, and over the last seven days his BABIP is a ridiculous .857 (yes, BABIP), suggesting some bad luck and a likely positive progression in the future.
