Did you know she was born in Milwaukee? Also she is still alive? I didn't know either of these things until 30 seconds ago.

Looks cool, but yeah, that market won't get this done.

We can only hope. Time for billionaire owners and millionaire players to pay for their own damn playgrounds.

That goes for Attanasio too.

I wanted that stadium to come to fruition so badly. I just loved that design concept.

I am convinced Ybor City is not even a real place. All this needs is sharks with lasers.

My one experience with Ybor City was back in late 1998 when I was training for my first consulting job after college. A bunch of us went to some annual drunken Halloween costume block party thing and I randomly ran into a dude with whom I went to high school. I believe I dressed up as a dead nerd. This was way before the zombie craze, so I was clearly ahead of my time.

Hello Las Vegas Rays!

If Vegas gets a baseball team also that city jumps straight into my "top 3 places to retire" list...

Wake up, golf, gamble, golf, baseball, gamble, people watch, sleep. Repeat.

It is a great city, my month of June this year was Wake up, work out, hit the pool, head over to a sportsbook to watch the Brewers, play poker all night (with a couple party nights here and there, Freemont St is amazing) Repeat.

If there was a team there, that would be awesome to visit when the Brewers play a series.

Agreed...but never gonna happen. It's not a question of whether Tampa will pay for it or the Rays will pay for it. It a question of whether Tampa will pay for it or another city will pay for it.

Teams and owners footing the full bill will never happen as long as these teams continue generating such huge revenues. And it does make sense, the teams bring huge money to the local economy. So it's supply and demand - teams are in short supply and rarely become available. So if you want to put your foot down and say we won't pay, another city happily will.

I knew she was born in Milwaukee. 8 year old me thought that was super-cool for some reason.

Having that small of a stadium might work for them. They have problems with attendance but from what I hear of my neighbors down there that go to Tropicana the location of their present ball park is an issue. It isn't in the best part of St. Petersburg.

No it isn't. I was there in 2004, and you didn't want to go south of the park as it was on the edge of a run down area. Besides that, the Trop is kind of a dump. It's cheesy and dank. Felt like it was build on the cheap.

Pretty sure it was built cheap and quickly.

Ybor City is probably better than it used to be. I was there for NYE back in like 94/95 and it was an older part of town with a strip of bars....like a poor man's Bourbon St.

Hello Las Vegas Rays!

Clearly you would have to go with the Las Vegas Aces. They need to build a stadium on the strip where the entire outfield wall is a hotel and all the outfield "seats" are balconies off the rooms. Then the lobby would have a casino too. Would never happen since it would be full of drunk, gambling baseball players with their pictures all over the internet, but a man can dream.

Vegas is a great city, I go a few times a year. Might be a little over extended already with NHL and NFL so it might not be a bad idea to wait and see how things play out with them on whether they can support another franchise too. Plus, Vegas is perfect for NBA so if/when expansion comes they're ready to go with an NBA arena build on the strip already so that's likely their priority. Keep in mind baseball is a summer sport and Vegas summers are ridiculously hot so almost all games would be indoors.

Also, their WNBA team is called the Aces already so that isn't gonna happen. I'd guess if the Rays moved they'd just keep the name as it also applies to the sun/heat in Vegas.

Being down 45 min from Nashville , and now a Predators fan .. I can say that NHL was VERY successful this year in Vegas. Not just because of the team, but the way the city embraced the team. And you have a lot of big name celebrities much like an LA or NY that attended games and such. I think it would be a good market for baseball.

ANNNNND I didn't think of that keeping the name as the Rays - different Rays... zinnnnng - i get it lol. Well done.

It will be interesting to see if this gets built and how it gets paid for as it could potentially change the future of stadium funding. Most cities are still green lighting whatever the owner wants but some are saying no. Oakland has repeatedly said no to the Raiders and A's. Didn't Seattle just reject the proposal to build an area to lure NBA and NHL teams and opt to remodel the Key Arena for much less? Not quite on the same level but the Brewers are paying for almost all of the upgrades to Maryvale because no city would pay to build a new facility for them. I think the tide is slowly turning against tax payer funded stadiums. I'm sure it will continue to happen but no longer do I think cities are just going to give the owner a plot of land and a blank check.

Right on the support in Vegas for the Knights. I was there twice during hte playoffs.

However, have to keep in mind how much of an anomaly it was due to them winning big in the first year. How will it maintain, etc. Besides that though it's just the financial aspects of it, like is there enough money and disposable income left in a not that big city population wise. It's also new in the sense to have teams in such a prime vacation destination on how traveling fans will help support teams financially there, as in how much does attendance get a fluff due to people for the road teams travelin in that weekend because of their team playing there. I just mean they might want to gain some more data info after adding two franchises basically at the same time. And like I said I know they'd prioritize NBA over MLB so if they felt like they can handle one they might hold out for NBA. On the otherhand, chances are folks in Vegas will have the mentality of go big or go home and just try to do it all and sort it out later.

Then throw in the financial aspects of funding another billion dollar stadium too, though in Vegas huge expenditures like that aren't rare.

Also, San Diego denied the NFL stadium for the Chargers and let them move. I agree the tide is turning.

For the Rays name, I think at this point TB is also using more along the sun/heat as opposed to the Devil Ray fish like it started. So really it would be the same theme as now
