2018-07-09: Brewers (Anderson) at Marlins (Urena) 6:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 4-3 in 10 innings]

Eye Black
you know sometimes major league hitters can tee up a fastball. Doesn't have to be anyone's fault, other than the umpire. if he calls that out it changes the whole inning, maybe it goes 123 and then no one would be saying anything. The fastball was fine and the slider had normal bite on it. The last two days were blowouts. I guess he could have got him out there yesterday

Good job to get through the inning with a little help from Cain.

Good fastball hitting team squared up a couple fastballs, bound to happen. If he gets the call on the strike three the pitch before the homer it’s a different inning. Now get some runs!

maybe Hader is wearing down some just blew that lead. It could be teams are getting a read on him now.

Or it could be that he needs to pitch more than once every 7 freaking days.

CC and his bullpen management once again leaving something to be desired.

Nope. Counsell. Brewers always do good, when they don't, it's Counsell.

Hader looked just fine until the blown 3rd strike and back to back HR's. Stop trying to blame Counsell for every run the team gives up. Rust would have been struggling to throw strikes early, not throwing 2 bad pitches later in the inning.

And now Thames is out of the game, you know, because they needed that one extra spot before the pitcher came up next.

and to take out an awful outfield defender late with a one run lead. If Thames botches a fly ball like he did earlier in this game and it costs a run people would complain about that

I don’t say it’s CC’s fault unless the result is directly related to something he did where from the vantage point of 99% of the fan base we can agree it was a bad decision.

Hader not pitching in nearly a week

Zagdumpsterfire for a 2nd inning

Things like that. Yes Hader has to make better pitches , and you can’t just blame the ump. But if you have a guy who’s worked more than once a week maybe he makes better pitches in better spots. Just saying.

This

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

I don’t mind the move, though now Thames’ bat would be nice. Solidified the defense, and made it slightly easier to get two from Hader. Just didn’t work out.

CC's bullpen management is why the team is where they are this season. I can't comprehend this. Yes, this was a bad play, but it was easy to see how it happened, with a heavy schedule and two decisive games, preceded by some close games that they didn't use him in but still won. It was an unfortunate set of circumstances and he probably should have played but he didn't. I'd have a hard time using him Saturday in a loss and yesterday in a lopsided win. He shoulda played in the first close games but how did CC know Saturday and Sunday wouldn't be 2-1 games? He didn't. It's tougher to make those calls than it looks.

i would take out Thames for three innings of defense, when up one, with Hader/Knebel in line too.

Put in Burnes next inning

That would be a CC move. Put in a guy with no experience, or first MLB appearance ever, in a high leverage situation.

Wow, it'd be agonizing to watch a game with some of you. Yup, it's the managers fault. The other team is getting paid too you know. I mean I guess Hader should've gone the rest of the season without giving up a run.

So, if he "get's some work in" a couple days ago and then can't go the following day in a close game with a lead then who's fault is that?

He made a better pitch in a better spot - the ump missed it. Then in the pitchers head he needs to get more of the plate, which he did, and it got hit 400 feet. So yea, you can say the ump had an effect.

If he’s fine putting guys like Barnes and Zagurski in close games, I’m sure he’s fine with that. I wouldn’t put Burnes in if they were winning or tied, only losing like they are now. I just really wanna see him pitch lol

Counsell's batting order, obviously.

I love the manager with the best bullpen in baseball being mocked for his management of the bullpen

Oh, so Counsell is perfect, and since he has the best bullpen in baseball he can't be criticized?

please.
