2018-07-09: Brewers (Anderson) at Marlins (Urena) 6:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 4-3 in 10 innings]

That ended quickly. Jesus looked a little over anxious.

He looked like a batter trying to do the “right” thing and hit the ball the other way

Trying to hit it the other way isn’t the “right” thing if it’s 8 inches off the plate.

So, do we deserve to lose this game more than the Marlins deserve to lose?

Someone is going to win, I prefer it be us!

The funniest part of the whole Hader argument is I remember a post from the Braves series calling for Hader to be used because the Marlins games would be blowouts and we wouldn’t need him anyways. BASEBALL!!!!!!

I'll have to take your word for it. I can't fathom anyone here actually thinking we were just going to stroll into Miami and blow them out 3 times.

By swinging at two balls in three pitches.

You do realize that those pitches appear to be strikes at first right? He was trying to go the other way with the pitch

You do realize that they were still balls, right? Calling it being a little over anxious was probably on point whether he was trying to hit it to right field or the moon.

Same! I hate the "We deserve to lose!" posts. Ziegler threw the right pitches. Mattingly pulled the right strings. Yeesh. SOmetimes the other guys do the things they are trying to do. So go out in the 11th and get a run, and win the game.

Nice of the Marlins to get an exciting game for their fan in attendance.

Three... there are three... and they are wearing stupidly bright shirts

Used to be four of em.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Heaven forbid a guy swing at pitches out of the zone! That’s what a pitcher gets paid to do.

Hitters get paid not to swing at them. Jesus and the year he’s having lays off them far more often than not. I just felt like he might have chased being a little over aggressive in a big spot. Didn’t mean to ruffle your feathers that much with an observation

I posted it and I never said they would be blowouts. I said it could very well happen. Don't misquote me like that.

This isn't the first time this year that Hader sat too long in the pen and gave up runs when he finally saw some action. It's ok to use him for one lousy inning. I just don't like the way CC uses him. Why must he always pitch multiple innings? Then he sits mulitiple days and then when he finally is available he doesn't get in for a couple more games anyway because the situation doesn't dictate it. If that's the way Hader is going to be used you might as well convert him into a starter. Otherwise I would rather see him as a one inning guy who only needs one day of rest, if that, and get more appearences out of him than pitching him 2-3 innings and being unavailable for 2-3 games.

And batters are paid to hit. What’s your point? Wildcats point still remains that he was a bit anxious in his at bat. Maybe had he waited for a strike, we’d be trying to close this one out right now.
