2018-07-06: Braves (Foltynewicz) at Brewers (Peralta) 7:10 PM CDT [Brewers win, 5-4; Dan Jennings puts out 7th inning fire]

You have to have some production from the back end of the pen. It's not Counsell's fault when you bring in a professional with a four run lead and he does this.

As the guy who's been saying all year he had no confidence in Barnes...the problem with that theory is that JB is a major league option to pitch with a 4-run lead.

Wow tough crowd. RP who has only given up runs in one outing in over a month and has a .474 OPS against in that time frame has a bad 7th inning and now people are calling out the manager.

You don't just sit there and watch your 5th best reliever give up 5 straight baserunners. You just don't.

That's why we need April Albers back so bad.

So you're staunch that the guy with a 2.45 ERA and who had only give up a run once in his last 14 appearances is total trash and shouldn't be in MLB?

Because it took four hits and a walk to get him out. No one is complaining he started the inning.

Oh come on now. Those were not hard hit balls and one of them probably should have been an out at home plate if Shaw wasn't so bad at balls hit in front of him. This is just back seat managing. If you are going to take the RP after 3 hitters when they are getting that type of hit you are just being silly. You could maybe argue take him out after the 4th but he got exactly the type of contact he wanted on the 4th hitter so not like he made a mistake.

He’s been a huge loss, he adds so much depth when he’s healthy and throwing well.

People defending Counsell are missing the point. Using Barnes wasn't the mistake. How long it took to pull him was the mistake.

It wasn't a mistake though. He had thrown 11 pitches, got a few flair hits against him and then got exactly what he wanted and Shaw screwed up the play. Counsell did nothing wrong there.

Stop complaining about the fan. He saved you a run for now.

Plus Braun lazily running over was in no position to make a throw even though he easily could've been.

Exactly....especially with Jeffress and Hader presumably available...

The Braves factor in as well. Too good of an offense to play around with.

Yep. Got two weak ground balls that are outs 90% of the time.
