If the Brewers don't win the division I should be banned. However, they will.

It’s not out of the question that he ends up in Colorado Springs, works out his hitting kinks, and returns to Milwaukee in September as a late-inning, left-handed, get on base option.

About 60 days overdue.....but thank god....

Now about Mr. Zagurski...

I can't imagine Zagurski is here long. As soon as we get some SP reinforcements, Suter will take his spot in the bullpen. Also could see Houser or Lopez coming back up.

I'm happy we made the move, it made sense to wait for Saladino though. Hopefully Saladino isn't done with his pre-injury hot streak.

Yeah Zagurski is the ultimate mop-up RP. It's just a matter of time before Houser comes back up. Houser is too good to not be on this team full time.

And hopefully Saladino doesn't have the same post ankle injury slump that Sogard had last year. Kind of similar situations (although Saladino is a much more talented player).

They're moving on. Otheewise they would have just optioned him again. So either they just decided to move on, or Eric didn't want to go back to the minors again this time which is his right as a veteran. Either way he's not going to Colorado Springs.

Looking forward to this lineup one day...

1- Cain CF

2- Yelich RF

3- Aguilar 1B

4- Shaw 3B

5- Braun LF

6- Miller 2B

7- Saladino SS

8- Pina

9- Pitcher P

With Thames as the first bat off the bench

Yelich in LF where he belongs, Thames in RF, and Braun 1st bat off the bench looks even better.

Was excited to hear the news, then felt bad thinking of that video of his daughter last year. That's the business aspect of it. Hope he sticks on and succeeds with a team.

Look at it this way. Worst case scenario he goes home and has the rest of the summer to spend with his daughter and still gets every last penny of his $2.3M contract.

Sogard DFA, Villar leading off.... Sad news. More wise middle infield decisions apparently.

Sogard needed to hit, granted, and he needed to impress, but his at bats were not regular or often.. not even 100. I liked his solid contact, ability to work an at bat, and solid d. His skill set was unique to our K/power/questionable defensive players. I thought he made a solid backup and pinch hitter, still. He had his own injury issues not so long ago and I thought he had something left now healthy. Just wasn't impressing enough this year when given limited at bats. Glad Orf is getting a shot, though, and hopes are high that we can have a better unit there second half.

Sad to see a couple of brewerfan.net posters' celebrations of a Brewer likely getting cut and losing a job.... class acts. Even I wouldn't hope that for these posters. Great for these human beings to lose their jobs? Uncalled for by any Brewers fan.

I don't really care a lick about Sogard but I figured I would do some digging. Last year he had a wOBA of .345 with an xwOBA of .348. Solid season that was fully supported by his batted ball data. To me that says signing him to a major league deal was not a bad move, he looked pretty legit.

This season his wOBA is a paltry .197 and his xwOBA is an equally paltry .236. There is a little bit of bad luck here but his season was mostly deserved. I have no clue why he has been so awful but the stats suggest it wasn't just bad luck. It looks like releasing him is the proper move.

To me it looks like a player the team handled properly. Just one that didn't work out.

:rolleyes womp. womp.

He was a negative player for the Brewers and got paid handsomely for it. It is his own doing that he’s no longer a Brewer by not performing. I get why you had to have this (hopefully) last Sogard post because you bought into his hot stretch last year so hard that you just had to but just let this one die. We just have better options.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

#1 - Saladino is a better hitter and defender than Sogard. Saladino makes Sogard pointless.

#2 - No one is celebrating Sogard the human losing his job.

#3 - He is getting a $2.3 million dollar severance. He'll be okay. You make it sound like his factory got shut down and he's got to come home and figure out how to make the next mortgage payment.

#2 + #3... he isn't losing his job. He's free to accept an assignment to AAA like he did the last time he was DFA'd. And if he plays well he could earn his way back to the 25-man.

LOL

Villar tonight: 2 for 4, 2B, SB, 2 runs scored. Dare I say a better line than Sogard has been capable of for way too long a time.

And Sogard takes home every penny of his $2.4 million dollar contract and can sign with any team who wants him. Honestly that's probably 4 or 5 times what he was actually worth. If my employer offered me 4 years severance pay I'd take it in a heartbeat.
