To elaborate on Yelich, the Brewers picked him up because he's the kind of hitter they've been missing more the most part the last several years. A pretty consistent avg and obp, and enough slg to keep people honest. Not too flashy, but really helps solidify the top of the lineup.

I much prefer Cain as a hitter but over the past ten days I'm not sure Cain makes any of the defensive plays that broxton does... Thoughts?

You haven't been paying attention then. The break on fly balls Cain gets is even better than Broxton who might be a tad faster. The only ball I'm not 100% sure Cain gets is the HR robbing catch yesterday against the Twins. They are both elite defensive outfielders.

They both have a knack for catching balls on the run that off the bat look like sure base hits.

Cain is leading all outfielders in defensive runs saved last I looked.

He probably couldn't have robbed the hr because he couldn't jump high enough but I think he could have made the others.

"Kratz hammers one to deep right field"...no, no he really didn't. He hit a can of corn fly ball to right center, medium deep at most. When is BA coming back>

Apparently he is at a family wedding. Will be back for Marlins series.

People get married on Thursdays? Weird.

Not sure if you were kidding or not, but Friday weddings are becoming much. Ore popular...which could mean he would be there Thursday I'd it's someone close.

Don’t think he gets all of them, but Keon might not if he had to do it again either. He gets a lot of them though. People have asked if Keon can play a corner spot, but I would put Cain in a corner before Keon. Especially in years to come.

If both Cain and Broxton are in the lineup and no one cares about established positions, to man Broxton in CF means displacing the best defensive OF in the majors. In essence you're saying Broxton is better than the guy who ranks 1st in defense. Anyone who has any doubt if Cain makes all those plays aside from the wall catch yesterday is probably falling victim to how easy Cain makes it look out there.

I think I pay attention quite well. But I didn't take into account jumps. Brox is faster and taller but I believe it that Cain has better jumps.

I get it this year, but before Cain’s contract is over he’s going to slow. He will still get great jumps but Keon will hold his athleticism. To be honest I’m pretty sure either one would be perfectly fine in any OF spot defensively.

Jhoulys ChACEin at it again.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Cain isn't a great fit in RF due to his below average arm. But Broxton could play plus defense anywhere. LOL at dWAR that had him below average last year. I suspect if both are in the lineup, Broxton will be the one to move as it is moreso Cain's spot than his.

Absolutely, it's a great problem to have. I'd bet on Cain still being an elite OF'er after Broxton's days in the Brewer organization come to an end however.
