Going to need at least six innings from Chacin. If one down in the game or better, probably Barnes and Williams for an inning, and JJ for an inning whenever the meat of the order comes up in 8 or 9.

If behind by more, I assume Zagurski gets another look. But has he pitched more than an inning at a time in the minors this year? I see 32 games played, with 30 innings pitched. Doesn't make me believe that he can come in and eat up innings if Chacin comes out early.

I guess Freeman and Markakis don't have much of a split, so I guess it doesn't matter that we don't have a loogy.

Yeah, our three best relievers are on the shelf tonight so Chacin better have the game of his life or the offense better show up and score at least seven runs.

Yeah gonna be a tough one tonight and a tough series overall. I think I would be pretty happy with a split. Hopefully we get Cain back real soon and the offense gets going again.

Seems a bit extreme. Why can't we just split the difference and have Chacin pitch to his norms.. give us 3 through 6 and win 5-4 or something?

Barnes and Williams are pretty good. Also I believe Jeffress is available, he threw 23 pitches yesterday...I don't think that's enough to rule him out for today. I'm honestly a bit surprised we didn't send down Orf and bring up a fresh arm with Knebel and Hader likely unavailable today. The good news, I would think both those guys should be available again tomorrow.

The Braves are one of the best hitting ball clubs in baseball, 4th in BA, 6th in OBP and 7th in OPS. I don't see our available relievers shutting them down at all. Williams and Barnes got lit up pretty good in Cincinnatti so I don't see us having much chance to win tonight but a split in the series is doable. I wish Hader had only gone two innings the other day with only 17 pitches.

A reminder of how random the international free agent market can be - the Braves signed Albies for $350K, Acuna for $100K, and Camargo for $42,000.

Would be nice to add a few of those guys to the system for those amounts.

The Brewers scored 3 runs yesterday and hit 3 home runs in the game. All 3 of the players that hit a home run yesterday (Shaw, Miller, and Orf) are all not in the starting lineup.

I understand playing matchups, but Counsell makes some interesting decisions sometimes.

Is making the heart shape with their hands the braves version of team building, like Brewers/Cain show me a little love? If so that's really stupid. It's for teens and EDM shows.

The stuff the Brewers do is pretty stupid. The show me a little love, the gauntlet, the bullpen hands over head clapping and jumping around.

Yeah you're right. But the heart shape with hands is the gold medal of stupid.

Just a great sequence all around by Villar. Gets the leadoff double, swipes 3rd after the K to open up the sac fly chance, and scores on a pretty shallow fly to ensure the chance isn't wasted. Well done.
