Final Game One: DSL Rangers2 18, DSL Brewers 5

DSL Brewers Game One Box Score

After the Brewers' game on June 30th, a 2-1 win, their team ERA was 2.93. Since the calendar has flipped to July, they've given up 7, 13, 11, and now 18 runs. The four-game pitching meltdown has driven the ERA all the way up to 4.15, an impressive "feat" a month into the season.

Carlos Rodriguez had a hit. Andres Melendez hit his first career home run. Jesus Chirinos had a 2-RBI double on the top of the first inning. Just take a pass on the rest of it.

Final Game Two: DSL Brewers 2, DSL Rangers2 0

DSL Brewers Game Two Box Score

The Brewers, behind starter Wilber Perez, emphatically stop their run of poor pitching. Coming off a 12 strikeout performance in his last start, Perez backed it up today with 6.1 innings of 3 hit, 5 strikeout ball. His ERA is down to 0.84 on the year, and in 32.1 innings pitched, he has allowed just 18 hits and 7 walks against 38 strikeouts. This has been kind of out of nowhere for Perez as to the best of our knowledge, he wasn't a big signing bonus guy and just pitched a few games last year. Dantel Ramirez got a double play to get the last 2 outs of the 7-inning contest.

1B Francisco Gonzalez drove in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 5th with an RBI triple. Carlos Rodriguez only had one hit.

Box Score / Game Log

Sure, there have been some player position promotions to Carolina. This current group isn't taking advantage of the opportunities they've been given, at least not for now.

Check out RHP Bowden Francis' last eight starts, three have been electric. Five, including this one, hardly so.

Box Score / Game Log

20-year-old LHP Blake Lillis (25th round, 2016) missed all of 2017 with "ulnar neuritis" - an inflammation of the ulnar nerve as it passes on the inside of the elbow down to the forearm and hand. Great to see him performing well.

Jean Carmona only 1-for-4 in SB attempts; was only 10-for-18 last season, too. #StillLearning

Final: AZL Giants Orange 14, AZL Brewers 8

AZL Brewers Box Score

After absorbing a tight low-scoring loss yesterday, the Baby Brewers got obliterated by the Giants Orange squad by a score of 14-8. They've fallen to 6-9 on the season, not very nice.

They did score 8 runs though, mostly thanks to production from the bottom of the lineup, cue Bill Schroeder voice. In particular, 9th round pick LF Arbert Cipion got his first pro hit, a triple, then followed that up with a double, and then another triple. He was 0-9 with 7 Ks coming into the game, so I have to imagine that felt good to not only get off the schneid, it felt great to bang the ball around the park and run around the bases. Cipion was the 6th place hitter in the lineup, and #s 7-9 did well, too: SS Orveo Saint (2-3, 2B, 2 BB), 3B Aaron Familia (2-5), and RF/CF Pablo Garabitos (2-5). Joe Gray went 0-4 to drop his BA to .111, though he did get his first pro stolen base.

The pitchers obviously had a tough day and 3 errors didn't help. Shoutout to Johan Dominguez and Mitch McIntyre for scoreless innings, though. Both are still sporting 0.00 ERAs on the year.

Awesome to see Demi starting off A+ red hot. Really intriguing prospect.

Based on the numbers, it's almost as if he's sacrificing power to make a ton more good contact and use his speed on the bases. Definitely someone to keep an eye on. The Carolina squad has been much more intriguing to follow over the last few weeks with Segovia and now Demi.
