Biloxi will be picking up where they left off with 2 outs in the bottom of the 5th from Sunday's suspended game. After completing that 9 inning game, they'll play the regularly scheduled game which is shortened to 7 innings.

Darn. I thought Ray had hit another dinger :)

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Enjoy the full podcast to be sure, but for the specific focus of this Minor League Forum, Greg Young appears exactly at the one hour mark.

Greg provided so much information, I actually went back and listened to his interview a second time to make sure I digested it all.

AUDIO via Matt Pauley's Brewers Extra Innings Podcast: "The month of June is here and there are rumblings that the Brewers could be major players at the trade deadline. Who should they acquire and what should they be willing to give up? We discuss that on this week's podcast.

The Brewers also continue to deal with injuries and players under-performing. That was one of the biggest narratives of the past week with multiple players dealing with injuries and Orlando Arcia being sent to Triple-A once again. Brew Crew Ball managing editor and BP Milwaukee contributor Kyle Lesniewski joins host Matt Pauley to discuss all aspects of the Brewers.

Carolina Mudcats broadcaster Greg Young also joins the program to give his take on the Brewers' High-A affiliate in the Carolina League.

Enjoy the full podcast to be sure, but for the specific focus of this Minor League Forum, the Tom Flanagan interview is at the 39:00 minute mark.

***

AUDIO via the Journal-Sentinel Brewers Podcast: "Milwaukee Brewers beat reporter Tom Haudricourt stops by to address the state of the team, who have hovered around .500 lately despite injuries and being ineffective on offense.

What's the long-term prognosis for shortstop Orlando Arcia? Why does the team hesitate to use the disabled list option? Is third baseman Travis Shaw simply going to have to gut through an injury all year? And since it's July, should fans be restless over the team's first-round draft pick still unsigned, and who's going to make the all-star team?

Then, first baseman Jesus Aguilar chats about his huge season, the opportunity he got in Milwaukee that he didn't get in Cleveland, and if he thought that opportunity might be coming to an end in spring training when the Brewers had a number of first-base options.

Tom Flanagan, the Brewers farm director, also swings by to talk about the mechanics of his position and discusses a number of intriguing prospects in the organization. With the trade deadline looming, expect to hear these names again soon."

The Brewers also factor in off-the-field maturity as well before stateside assignments, including at least the makings of progress of the English language. Not saying that's an over-arching issue for Rodriguez.

Interesting that Zack Brown picked up for Diplan to finish the first game. And he did so in typical Zack Brown fashion.

I'm more worried about Houser - 0.2 IP, 35 pitches. Hope it was the pitch count.

Final: Round Rock 8, Colorado Springs 4

EXPRESS TAKE GAME FIVE, SKY SOX TAKE SERIES

ROUND ROCK, Tex. – After taking the first three games of this five-game series, the Sky Sox dropped the final two, still taking the series over Round Rock 3-2 after losing 8-4 on Tuesday night.

The home team got the offense rolling early on Tuesday night, scoring a trio of runs in the first inning. Drew Robinson led off with a walk for the Express, but was caught stealing second. Cliff Pennington then went down on strikes for two quick outs. However, Scott Heineman then lined a single and Willie Calhoun reached when hit by pitch to put two on. Round Rock then executed a double steal, with a Sky Sox throwing error allowing Heineman to come home for the first run of the evening. Andy Ibanez then singled to move Calhoun up to third, followed by a Hunter Cole single to plate Calhoun. Nick Noonan then hit Round Rock's third consecutive single to score Ibanez and give the Express a three-run lead.

NOTE: OF Scott Heineman is the younger brother of Biloxi catcher Tyler. If not for the glut of Sky Sox catchers, the brothers would have been reunited for this series. Scott Heineman was 4-for-4 here with a stolen base, nice career thus far in the Rangers' system.

After two scoreless frames, Round Rock went back to work. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Tony Sanchez led off with a double on the first pitch he saw. A ground out let him move up to third, and a sacrifice fly from Robinson for the second out of the inning scored Sanchez to make it 4-0. In the next at-bat Pennington reached after being hit by pitch, and a Heineman single put runners on the corners for Calhoun, who hit his seventh bomb of the season to make it a 7-0 ballgame.

In the top of the fifth, the Sky Sox fought back. Jett Bandy led off with a homer to get Colorado Springs on the board, with Brett Phillips drawing a walk two outs later. Tyler Saladino then singled for the second hit of the inning to put two on, before Tyrone Taylor cleared the bases with a three-run homer to make it a 7-4 affair.

In the bottom half of the inning, with one out on the board, Noonan answered with a solo homer of his own to put the Express up 8-4.

Though the first five innings were boisterous, the final four innings went quietly, with no more runs being scored by either squad. In the top of the ninth inning the Sky Sox attempted a rally, as Bandy led off with a single, advancing to second on a Round Rock error. However, the next three batters were all retired to quash the rally and end the game without further ado. The Express held onto an 8-4 victory to take their second game in a row from Colorado Springs, with the Sky Sox still managing to take the series three games to two.

The Sky Sox are returning home tomorrow on Independence Day to host the New Orleans Baby Cakes for five games, before going on the three-day All-Star Break, and then hitting the road for five more games against the Baby Cakes in New Orleans after the break. The Sky Sox are sending righty Aaron Brooks to the mound to square off against New Orleans' fellow righty Zac Gallen Wednesday.

Box Score / Game Log

Michael Brady spared Adrian Houser an uglier first-inning line when Houser's struggles led to a forced pitch-count exit after 32 throws. The pitch count would have been an inning count, not a game-long limit. My two-year old niece repeatedly said her newly-learned word "puke" this week during our babysitting visit, the combination of it being Houser and this series of events reminded me of that --

Round Rock Bottom of the 1st

Drew Robinson walks.

With Cliff Pennington batting, Drew Robinson caught stealing 2nd base, catcher Jett Bandy to shortstop Tyler Saladino.

Cliff Pennington called out on strikes.

Scott Heineman singles on a ground ball to second baseman Jake Hager.

Willie Calhoun hit by pitch. Scott Heineman to 2nd.

With Andy Ibanez batting, Scott Heineman steals (11) 3rd base, Scott Heineman scores. Willie Calhoun steals (3) 2nd base. Throwing error by catcher Jett Bandy.

Andy Ibanez singles on a line drive to center fielder Brett Phillips. Willie Calhoun to 3rd.

Hunter Cole singles on a ground ball to right fielder Domingo Santana. Willie Calhoun scores. Andy Ibanez to 2nd.

Nick Noonan singles on a ground ball to center fielder Brett Phillips. Andy Ibanez scores. Hunter Cole to 3rd.

Tony Sanchez walks. Nick Noonan to 2nd.

Pitching Change: Michael Brady replaces Adrian Houser.

Hanser Alberto pops out to catcher Jett Bandy in foul territory.

Game Two Box Score / Game Log

The box score batting averages aren't glamorous, but the Shuckers represent them well in nearly all categories when you review within the Southern League context.

This makes me feel better. Only one hard hit ball, an error, and a couple of seeing-eye grounders.
