I have to admit, I'm one of those who only thinks K rate matters if a player makes too many outs. If a player maintains a good enough OBP, I really don't care how he makes the outs. If Ray can maintain a .340+ OBP, I really could care less about the K rate.

I think the concern is that if his K rate is high in the minors, he simply won't make enough contact to even sniff that at the MLB level. If he can maintain a 340+OBP at the MLB level, I would agree. In the past, guys with a high K rate in the minors get worse at the MLB level and don't sniff a 300 OBP.

However, I do feel Ray can top that. Its been interesting to watch him come around. Some guys just need longer than others.

Some of the list difference is also timing, Monte had helium coming into the season and Ray did not, Top 100 rankings tend to have some serious lag depending on the source.

Yes and Ray was just having a solid but not great season a month ago, the guys doing these rankings are probably reluctant to be too knee jerk after a hot streak.

Something else to keep in mind with Harrison vs. Ray is that Monte has the capability to be a plus plus defender in center where Ray's defense in CF is projected as more averagish.

Yep that would make the ranking more legit above Ray. 2 guys OPS .700 Monte would probably be 1.5WAR worth more due to his defensive ability. It's Like Phillips being worth 0.4BWAR when his OPS is at about 500.

Arm, athleticism, and height. Remember, Monte is playing for a new team this season with Isan Diaz as maybe played with before. Expectations jumped from around #10 team prospect to #1 essentially in Miami. Playing at AA something he didn't experience last season for the first time. I'd expect Monte to gradually improve and breakout more at Corey Ray's current age at AA next season being acclimated to the new ball club and 2nd year around at AA.

Anyone know how common a 30/30 season is in the minors? With the sheer number of teams I'd imagine it happens, but can't be all that common I don't think. Would be a pretty sweet landmark.

Before yesterdays game, Ray was at the exact same number of games (and within 3 PAs) of last year. Was pretty telling looking at the counting stats to see how much better he was in every concievable way. Not that we didn't know that from the slash line stats and such already, but it somehow seemed even more clear.
