Broxton deserves some love here too, this game doesn't even make it to extras without his robbery. I don't know how the myth ever got started that he isn't a good defender.

Anyway, great comeback, so glad they overcame a grand slam and a horrible call.

No, not another *homer robbery* that probably wasn’t actually a homer. Schroeder at it again. Great catch regardless though.

It wasn’t a myth. He constantly made terrible plays when his defense was being criticized that way.

I never heard anyone say Broxton isn't a good defender, He lost his spot to Yelich and Cain.

Thankfully we added a player that can take a walk when it's obvious the pitcher can't throw a strike. Sheesh

i agree. Why isnt this team more picky with their swings? Starting pitchers dont hit 90 pitches against us until late in the game.

Broxton is obviously uber-athletic and is capable of being a Gold-Glove-caliber CF, but he had some mental-type lapses out there at times last year that may have contributed to the idea that his defense isn't great. Athletically, though, he is probably a step above Cain. Cain has him beat in angles and overall baseball smarts, though, which probably makes Cain the superior defender out there. It's closer than you'd think, though. While it is very nice to have a CF of Broxton's quality in reserve in case of a Cain injury, I still really can't believe another team hasn't targeted Broxton as a starting CF candidate, and made the Brewers a decent offer for him. The guy may be a little inconsistent, but he is exciting out there, has a terrific attitude and could bring a lot of good things to a team. I have to think he'd be a substantial upgrade for several teams, and he's controllable for several years and still in his theoretical prime.

Cain is likely the best defensive CF in the game over the last 5 years, whereas Broxton is "merely" an excellent defensive CF. There were complaints last year about Broxton being "bad" at defense, which I chalk up to him having 2-3 egregious errors in the first half last year that colored people's perception of his overall defensive quality last year.
