By the way crew has 3 hits today. On the day Jesus rested.

You’re going to have to get used to it. Counsell has stated clearly that he needs days off.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Meaningless 9th inning home run? So that's why Braun stayed in the game, he relishes those.

7 of his 10 dingers this year have come in wins. And over 200 of his 300+ have come in wins in his career.

And only 2 of his homers were in the 9th inning this season, the other being a basically game winner in San Diego.

There's nothing wrong with scoreboard watching in July when you're in first place.

We arent going to be in first place after monday. We have a good bullpen but not when we decide to sit down our good relievers while playing mix and match games with various career minor leaguers who have no business in this league. We been getting crushed with awful call ups.

I think this crappy play all but solidifies 2 transactions. One ACE for sure. And a decent infielder. They spent a lot on Yellich and Cain, now they have to chase their investment. Other teams in contention will make monster pickups, so must we. We will. As is, we are still a solid team, just not strong enough to win consistently. We are below .500 after May ended and are treading water as a .500 team.

Boy I’d hate to see your thoughts if this team was let’s say 5 games over .500.

I’m OK with Aguilar getting some days off but why the crap can’t it wait until Yelich and Cain are back? And stop with the trash relievers. Let’s pitch Wilkerson, Zagurski, etc but cut Hughes after a good season

To be fair it has been frustrating watching this team be incapable of winning a series against bad teams (White Sox, KC, Cincy) of late. It's been of month of two steps forward, two steps back. They just can't seem to break that 15 games over mark. It's been a very meh month and in reading these boards I don't get the feeling that anyone actually buys that this is the best team in the NL (and, in fact, they are not anymore). It's not just the offense. It's not just the bullpen. It's not just the starting rotation. There are holes all over the place.
but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Manny Pina is a big part of this teams problems. He’s just not very good and we don’t seem to care to fix it.

Does he have options left?

Another home run for Nottingham today

Stearns is getting a bit silly.

Nottingham needs to be on this team right now. He is bashing and if he has put things together and can be an upgrade with the bat it would be nice boost to the bottom of the lineup. Pina looks like he has zero energy. He is out of shape it appears and swings like he is swinging a telephone pole. What's the worst that can happen? You are putting Charles Zigurski in big spots. Why not Nottingham?

Nottingham can wait. Nothing against him but Stearns has scrambled trying to mix and match going cheap trying to address problems. I mean, Pina can barely hit but he is like problem #4. Let's at least try to solve our greatest problem by finally adding an ace. We have a bunch of starting pitchers that are good journeyman and can pinch us 5 innings, but they get the heck smacked out of them going through the batting order the 3rd time. And we don't have that reliever that can stand in the gap if our starter gets in trouble or only goes 5 innings. We been losing games from inning 5-7. That said, I see the following as our greatest needs.

1. ACE

2. SS/2nd

3. Someone better than Zski or that new pitcher who got clocked today

4. Pina

Obviously, DS is going to spend the cash and grab an ACE. That's good news. But I think he will have to at least get us a average infielder. We can't keep relying on Honey I Shrunk the Kids and his .134 avg. Not for a playoff team. The TV announcers will eat us alive if we play a guy who hits below .150.

You guys think we will make the playoffs? I do. Look at the other wildcard teams, I think we have a shot. Obviously, the Cubs are smacking the ball around and seems to have finally found their groove. Let's focus on progressing this year to at least make the playoffs, unlike last year. Let Hura develop some more. Pick up an ACE, and we should be able to win the wildcard. Then who knows? But as long as we get to the playoffs, that is progress.

I've been saying for a long time, my highest hope for this season was locking in a WC spot and hopefully winning the entry playoff.

We can still do that, and I don't think we will win the division. We are simply the inferior team. We just get in, anything can happen at that point.

How exactly will an "ACE" help when the offense can barely scratch together 2 runs? Even with that putrid offense the starting pitching keeps us in games. Get a couple bats and the pitching goes from keeping us in games to winning us games.

we have great hitters, there just isnt any urgency as Counsell is still mixing and matching lineups like its spring training.

And in his press conference after our first spanking at the hands of the reds, he said he had nobody available and we ran out of gas. So what does he do next? He sits Aguilar.

Cmon maaaaaan! There is a reason why this franchise never won a ws!

I have to admit I find it a little bit amusing that when someone like Broxton has a big blowup game like the other day, we hear things like "Oh boy. This really speaks to our depth. What a luxury it is to have a 20/20 guy to bring up when you get injuries."

Then when the offense is silent the next couple games it becomes, "Well, whadayah expect? Everybody's hurt!"

Broxton never was the answer. I am hoping he hits enough for someone to trade for him though.

Sure it's better to have Broxton to call up in a situation like this rather than having to play Nick Franklin types, but yea long term you're not winning if he's playing a ton of games.

And yes at this point I'm fine if they bring up Nottingham and split time with Pina. THey need to try and jump start the offense in some way and the obvious route is turning the 3 black hole spots into at least basic competency. In theory Miller should provide taht at one of the IF spots each day. Maybe this helps at C. And maybe down Keston down the line too.

we looked unbelievably awful the last two games. Almost dead. I have hope but...wow....with how we are playing since June 1, it's hard to imagine us getting into the playoffs. I think we make it to the wildcard because other NL teams have holes as well, but hopefully, we stop trying to figure out who can play in this league, and stop mixing and matching our minor leaguers. That evaluation period was suppose to end in Spring Training, and only non playoff teams bring up all the minor leaguers in September. We are doing it now. Last two games we had minor league pitchers called up and tossed into the games when the game was on the line. 13 runs later, these two pitchers gotta be sent back down. Puh leeeasseeeeeee. Warning Will Robinson!
