2018-07-01: Brewers (Peralta) at Reds (Harvey) 12:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 8-2]

Eye Black
The only decent infielder there is now on the Reds as Counsell decided to waive him. Now the dude may be an All Star.

Counsell waived Scooter?

March 28, 2017 the reds picked him up. Dude is batting like .330 with at least 12 HR. Counsell, like any manager has a strong voice in waiving players.

Hernan Perez has never been an above average hitter by OPS+ in his entire career, not even close. Bref puts his career oWar at .9, and it was 1.7 in 2016, meaning the rest of his career is negative. I had to look up his numbers because I thought he would have been at least close to average at some point in his career, but no. He's a decent 25th man but plays way too much in Milwaukee. He got almost 900 PA between 2016 and 2017!

I wonder if the Reds hasn’t put themselves in such a huge hole if they would’ve been active at this deadline for pitchers.

The only thing that keeps Perez off the radar is that we usually carry one or two other guys who are craptastically worse.

Perez I agree would be fine as a 25th guy, I agree, problem is we want him to be more.

Harvey only has 41 pitches in 4 innings. No hitter. Maybe because we have a bunch of Minor leaguers in the lineup. And if Braun is still playing through an injury, why did we rest Aguilar? O risn't Aguilar allowed to have a game where he doesn't get a hit without setting him down the next day? We don't have any resistance in the lineup. Shaw's bat has been awol. Aguilar was our hottest bat but he got his day of rest.

Speaking for myself watching this team hit is so boring. Basically every at bat is weighted to be either a home run or a strike out. Very few rallies and multiple hit innings. In fact the brewers have to lead the league in 3 up 3 down innings. I just set my alerts on the at bat app and hope that somebody in blue hit a homer.

So sick of all the strikeouts. Really down on Shaw. All we really have is Aguilar (still worried he could come back down), yelich and Cain.

This is what relying on rookie pitchers looks like.

Want to take this back? What Peralta did after that horrendous first inning as a 21-year old is very impressive.

Looking at the radar it doesn’t look like it’ll last.
