I can't help but think Zagurski was called up because he'd be easily dumpable. But then he gets put in the game in a tight spot? Come on guys. I know you need spots eventually for Miley and Davies, but don't sacrifice wins now for that. Put the best team on the field, and figure things out later.

When you run a seven men pen, it is hard to hide more than 1 guy from leverage situations if you have a few tight games in a row.

Pen should be at 8 ... always. Which brings us back to carrying the "day-to-day" boo-boo guys on the active roster argument that we've talked circles about. This team seems hamstrung by low numbers at least once a week. That just doesn't seem right.

Who other than Perez can pitch? Because we might as well save the pen.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Which is why even having Zagurski on the roster was incredibly stupid. Who would have thought having a 7+ career ERA 35 year old who hasn't pitched in 5 year would be a bad idea?

Just a 'cute' move attempt and now huge egg in the face. I'd be quite annoyed if I'm Houser or Lopez.

Yep. You can't go day to day with 3 guys on your roster without paying the piper at some point.

Start actually taking advantage of the 10 day DL. Its there to help you, guys. Houser and Lopez should be up tomorrow, Braun DLed and Zagurski should be en route home after the game.

"Fresh arm" crap backfires. Houser would have stood a much better chance in this game. Come on Stearns, put the best 8 relief options on the 25 man roster and just stick with them!!!

Houser the lost part in all this. Everyone talks about who should've come up, but why did he need to go down?

Stearns micromanages a bit too much. Moving guys up and down. Bringing up a guy like zagurski when youre in a playoff race should NEVER happen unless you have no other options, and there are other options.

Get your best 25 guys up, quit playing 2 and 3 guus short everyday, and quit futzing around with the last 2 bullpen spots just to do it.

Hopefully Barnes can get 3 more outs and we don't have to go to Knebel. Even if they pitch a position player a pitcher would need to play in the field.

Kratz pitching? Ok. Guess that's the only way this works since Pina was the last man on the bench.

We have to stop yanking our starters with low pitch counts when they are pitching well. How many times lately has Counsell pulled the starter after 5 or 6 innings when the pitcher is going well and has a pitch count in the 70s or 80s. Hader and Jeffress are used too often and they are wearing down.

This. It is crazy that a guy who is getting the job done has to be sent down because he is not available for a day to call up somebody who is worse but is available.

The crazy thing is we send pitchers down who are pitching well because they are not available for a day yet we carry Braun and company when they can't play for a week. This roster is not being managed well. Love Stearns but this isn't mlb the show. Pick 25 and let's roll. If you are hurt and play take ten days off.

Pulling Chacin at the point they did was questionable too. He could have come out for the 6th. Pitch count was low.

Few of our starting pitchers, if any, cant go thru the batting order 3 times without serious consequences. See Sutters last game. Earlier in the year our starters were getting thru 6. Now, we are losing games due to the 5th or 6th inning since we dont have that BP guy that has had consistent success coming in the 5th inning. Jennings is tolerable but barnes and williams get rocked against good hitting.

Counsell is doing all he can do but we just dont have a solid ace that can consistently get thru the 7th.

Stearns gotta make the move for an ace. Pitching is tiring out.

That said, we may break the mlb team record again for strikeouts. 18 more didnt help today.

I'm in on the Stearns and his back and forth bullpen moves being stupid. Get the 25 man team that is the best and keep them in Milwaukee. Houser was doing well so keep him. Enough of what happened today.

I dont have any explaination why Zski pitched today or how he is even still in mlb. Him coming in with us up was nothing short of "throwing" the game. Reds are a good hitting team and i just shut my eyes when i saw this 8.0 era guy get a call. Im not sure Zski should even be in the minors. We may throw tomorrows game as well. If Sogard is still on this team and arcia is still playing after the all star game then forget about the division. The bottom of our order is awful. Its time Shaw gets out of his rut cuz Aguilar is in strikeout mode again.
