I think you could see a Thames - Broxton - Perez outfield today.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I think Braun or Yelich hit the DL today unless one of them can come back for sundays game.. cant play the 23 man game.

I think we would have heard about someone being on the DL by now. Highly unlikely they could get someone to make it from a night game in Round Rock, Texas last night to an afternoon game in Cincinnati in time to start today.

I think Counsell addressed in the press conf that they would still have a three man bench if they did not DL anyone and Braun and Yellich were not available - implying they could do that for a day or two.

Maybe Suter gets to pinch hit?

Goes back to you just don’t DL people just to do it. I wish it’d go back to 15 days just so we get out of that mindset around here.

Procedural question...do they need to make it to the stadium in time to be eligible to substitute? Meaning, could they arrive in the 2nd inning and be inserted in the 8th, so long as they are on 25man by first pitch?

You don't DL guys just to DL them, but consistently playing with a 23 or 24 man roster isn't the answer either. There are times this season where I do think we could be a little bit better at managing the roster in that respect. Some teams quite frequently use that 10 day as a way of managing minor injuries while still playing with a normal roster, that was a big reason of why it was implemented in the first place.

There's a happy medium here, and a lot has to do with how valuable and replaceable the player is. Someone like Eric Sogard should never be 'day to day', if he cannot go he is easily replaced. Playing a man down because Sogard cannot play for 3-4 days is just a waste of a roster spot for 3-4 days.

Someone like Shaw or Yelich you definitely want to have more patience with especially if you think the problem can be resolved in a couple days.

How long until Clint Coulter is starting in the OF?

Forgot this guy was still our system even. Bust.

Miller

Thames

Aguilar

Shaw

Perez

Villar

Broxton

Kratz

Chacin

If someone awoke from a coma that began in March of last year, they's see that lineup and only recall Villar, Broxton, and Perez as anyone with a stint of major league success with the Brewers. They'd also assume this was a team on pace to lose well over 100 games.

No, you don’t need to be there at the start to play. It’s happened quite often before. You have to be added to the 25 man roster before the game though.

I would like to say that I appreciate that the game threads appropriately list the game time as 3:10 CDT, Central Daylight Time, as they correctly list it every time.

So many people/sites just slap the word "Standard" after a time zone, as in Central Standard Time, and assume it is right. No, it is not. "Standard" time is the time in effect when Daylight Savings is not in effect. It is not just an unnecessary filler word.

That is all. :)

This Cubs-Twins game on MLB Network is just crazy. Cubs have come back from two 3 run defecits and now lead 9-7 in the fifth. They've combined for nine runs this inning and it's not over yet.

Addison Reed just getting hammered today ERA up to 4.26. I remember when he went to the Twins for 2/17 and we all thought the Twins got a sweet bargain. Maybe there's a good reason Stearns wasn't interested in getting involved in the 7-8M a year reliever market this last offseason.
