Brewers Chasing Franchise Record (Best Start Before AS Break Ever)

MrTPlush

The Milwaukee Brewers just notched their 48th win on the season leaving them just 6 short of the current record for wins before the AS Break.

1979 Brewers, 54

2014 Brewers, 53

2008 Brewers, 52

2017 Brewers, 50

2007 Brewers, 49

2011 Brewers, 49

2018 Brewers, 48

1978 Brewers, 48

1982 Brewers, 48

17 games remain so reaching and beating the record is almost a given at this point. They need to go at least 7-10 to break the record.

They are also chasing the best winning percentage ever before the break which I believe was 1979 at .5870. To beat that record they would need to go 10-7 for a 58-40 record.

Obviously the end of the season is what matters, but really puts into perspective the great season they are putting together so far.

However, and I may be wrong, some of those "records" are a bit skewed since the All-Star game fluctuates for when it is held. For instance, and I'm purely guessing here since it's after midnight and I've had a few drinks while sitting by the ol' firepit, the 1979 All-Star game MIGHT have been held earlier in July (I'll totally guess July 9th) and the team played fewer games prior to that all-star break. So a mark of 54 wins is mighty impressive compared to this year when it's not held until July 17th (which seems REALLY late.)

edit: Well, shows you what I know. The 1979 All Star game in Seattle was on July 17th! :laughing

Yes you are correct in that the day varies slightly every year and the amount of games a team plays. 1979 I believe they played two less games.

Regardless the All Star Break is a huge milestone on the season regardless.

How about 8 more wins by the break, then they can match their season win total from the 2002?

Man that’s crazy and depressing. I read about how bad that rotation was the other day...oooof.

Glad I’m too young to remember that.
