2018-06-27: Royals (Duffy) at Brewers (Suter) 1:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 5-4]

For those watching, does more credit go to Broxton for the throw or criticism to Merrifield for trying to stretch it?

Both. I was hoping Merrifield would try to stretch it because before he even got to 1st base I knew he'd be a pretty easy out at 2nd.

That said, Broxton did a great job cutting it off and made a very strong throw to 2nd. It wasn't even close.

Wasn't even close? You must have seen a different play than me... Took a perfect throw to get him.

I love Suter starts. It seems like the game just started, and he's already through six innings.

I think we can put the "Suter doesn't belong in the rotation" talk to bed now, too.

I think we can put the "trade half the farm for a SP" talk to bed now.

Apparently we did. He was dead to rights.

Nice walk for Keon but that first pitch curveball he seemed like he was on it the whole way, then swung at the last moment when it was way out of the zone. Curious how he can seem like he's right on a pitch and then look stupid swinging at it.

Nice defense from him today though.

Did that announcer just call him Brent Sutter? I've heard Pena instead of Pina today and Vy-yar for Villar. I'm glad I get to watch the game as it would probably not be televised otherwise but these Facebook announcers are THE WORST!!

I don't think they will trade for a rental starter, but if an ace-type with multiple years of control is made available, I think they'll be in on the talks. As they should.

Nice approach from Villar in the leadoff spot today. Has punched a couple nice singles to center. I hope that continues.

I agree. Looked like he was even choking up in that last at bat to just make hard contact ... and then stealing second . Shows how singles and speed can be a weapon when you aren’t trying to hit it out every swing

Villar consistently has choked up all year and gone for a very heavy contact swing. This isn’t new and he definitely tries to just put it in play with two strikes.

I thought so. And I love that approach. It was hard to tell if he actually was doing that as I thought he has been or if that was a thing on the knob of the bat. Hard to tell now days!

If Braun and Santana get going, and the crew calls up Hiura with Miller at short...

The offense side is fixed.

It helps, but it isn't fixed because those guys, other than Miller, play at spots where there is already production. Miller playing really well would be fantastic, but you still lose Arcia's glove.

I'm gonna be that guy that jinxes us I guess, but the Brewers are tied with the Cubs for the 2nd fewest runs allowed in all of baseball. Not a perfect measure of SP success, but a usable one. We've also played 1 more game than the Cubs, the only team with less runs is the Astros. I do think some of our SP are pitching a bit above their heads, but on paper it looks like we could benefit more from a bat at SS or C than from a SP.

Yup, get the bullpen in action... Suter had it today, but it can disappear quickly.

Any trouble at all and he needs to be pulled.
