Travis Shaw

Pugger

Can’t wait to see what the great options are. Seriously, we have Sogard on the MLB roster...what is so great we can’t wait a few days to see if Shaw will be healthy?

I’d rather wait 5 days to see if we can get Travis Shaw back vs. jumping the gun to bring up a trash hitter to get 3 ABs over those five days likely ending in a 66% K rate. Then we find out Travis Shaw is healthy, but now has to fiddle his thumbs for 5 days while some scrub from AAA strikes out a couple more times.

Guess we can never have enough trash on the bench.

Even if it were to end the way you predicted, it really isn't that terrible for Shaw to get a bit of rest. The argument is better used for Braun because he tends to come off extended layoffs and hit the ground running, but a few extra days to rest and make darn sure that wrist is 100% seems like the wise move. If this was the middle of August and we were chasing the Cubs in the standings...I can understand your argument a bit better. I don't like the idea of adding a risk of an extended absence by not getting Shaw's wrist back to 100%.

How many teams replace a Travis Shaw with a Travis Shaw? Getting a bit unrealistic about how depth works. Miller could probably step in there, Perez too and keep that position afloat.

Just would like to be conservative with Shaw's wrist. It has been twice now that he has been out with this.

I'm unrealistic? Miller and Shaw as long term replacements?

You’re inferring by waiting you are pressured to rush him back...except that isn’t how it’s works. After 5 days if he isn’t ready you DL him. Simple. Then you bring someone up for five days to ride the pine.

Shaw was actually pulled from a game. Not just one of those nagging injuries. Bad enough he was stopped mid AB.

Sitting/resting with the same injury TWICE in a short period of time begs the DL, especially since it is only 10 games now.

And almost more importantly, we are not deep at 3B. I'd rather sit him now to give the team some assurance they can have him later. We might be able to get by better with him out now playing poorer teams than when we have to face the Cubs/Cards/playoff teams. Furthermore, Shaw's production tailed off last season in the second half when he was healthy. We need good Shaw 2nd half. Why push it?

I agree.

Put Shaw on the DL, call up Hiura, Miller to third, Villar at short.

Travis Shaw is batting about .205 the last month.

We know he has a sore wrist.

They probably should have put him on the DL last week.

If they don't do that, he should not

be batting cleanup until he gets his stroke back.

Just slide braun and miller up

for awhile until he does

I think this was a Charles Bukowski poem.

He is not a threat right now because of the wrist. He is not going to get right in the middle of a stretch of games every night. I would put him down for 10 days. Maybe get a shot to help heal things if necessary. Brewers playing with fire here.

I would rather he twiddle his healthy thumbs for a few days, versus continue to play and never get healed. This Shaw that is running out there now, is basically worse than Sogard.

Take a DL stint and get healthy. If it is something that isn't going to get better for a long time, then you better drop him in the batting order and start playing Perez and Miller more at 3B.

Is it bad that I have zero concern about Shaw continuing to play if he and the team feel he's healthy enough to? Anybody here a doctor? Have you examined him? If so I'd like to schedule a prostate exam with you.

Just common sense says to take it easy.... Sit the man for a while instead of playing him everyday- almost acting like all is normal.

A hit & 3 walks tonight. Maybe the medical staff has evaluated him correctly.

No one is saying he can't play the game...the question is if he should after two recent bouts with a wrist injury. If the season ended in a month, I'm on board with this- tough it out, Shaw. That's not the truth, however. Lord willing, we are still playing in October, and we'll be expecting this guy to be in the lineup producing, not on the DL.

The Brewers are not in a position to DL him. Unless you want Perez as your full time 3B. I definitely do not.

Right now Perez is a full time OF.

That could easily be fixed with a couple roster moves.
