Perez, Villar, Kratz, Arcia, Chacin is our 5-9. Woof.

Here's to a plate of crow this afternoon I hope? Sidenote: I wonder how Santana feels not getting at bats up here then seeing Hernan Perez getting starts in RF not even 48 hours after he is sent down..

Sure looks like CC is throwing in the towel on a series win today...

Aren't all games important when in a playoff race?

I hope I am 100% wrong, but I don't like this approach at all.

Perez in RF and Aguilar on the bench? Seriously? It would be so much better to rest Aguilar when Cain is back and move Thames to 1B. Someone needs to hide CCs calendar so he doesn’t know it’s Sunday

Let's assume CC just wants to give Aguilar a day off against a righty, as he likes to do with players from time to time to keep them fresh and to make sure 'bench' players get semi-regular playing time, is there anything else people are egregiously upset about with this lineup? Seems like a lot of complaining because one guy is getting a day off with 86 games to go in the season, lol.

Also seems like you need to read closer when I said to give him a day off when Cain is back. I didnt see any post that said Aguilar should never be out of the lineup

Coin flip game. Maybe they win, maybe they lose. I have an offer out on a new home so I am hoping it is entertaining to keep my mind off the wait.

Didn't miss that, just curious if the timing of one player's day off was the only issue you (and others) are upset about. It's a long season, we have a deep bench with lots of guys that are going to need to be contributors if we're going to maintain this success, I just find it hard to be upset (or even irked) about a single player being in or out of the lineup at this point.

That said, what else is there to complain about in an in-game thread before the game's even started? ;) Let's get this game started! Go Crew!

I think the biggest gripe is that we are already missing Cain, why not rest Jesus when the line-up is more in tact, not rest him the same day that Cain is off.

Every bat matters... Every game matters, as we found out last season.

Totally agree that every game matters, but I think CC's doing what he thinks he needs to do to make sure we have our best chance to win in games later in the season as well and I think we'll have to just agree to disagree that sitting one player is "throwing the game". We've got a pitcher going that's 4-1 with a 2.33 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in his last 9 starts and a lineup that includes OPS's of 1.157, .900, .845, .807, .786, and .783 against righties in the past 38 games (super hand picked timeframes, but still true and relevant). Not to mention we have a weapon in Aguilar to come off the bench whenever CC wants later in the game. I think there's still an okay chance we can take this one.

Counsell on giving Aguilar a day off:
Here's how Craig Counsell broke down the decision to give Jesús Aguilar a breather today: "He needs a day. We have to understand this is a big man and we’ve got to give him some days off. That’s how I’ll put it."
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

If The Jesus says he needs a day, I'm inclined to give him a day off.

I mean it is the sabbath.

Really hope we move Thames down in the lineup.
