2018-06-23: Cardinals (Mikolas) at Brewers (Anderson) 3:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 3-2]

Eye Black
I don't want to belabor the point any more after this, but what's it going to take before it's acceptable to retaliate? Another Cain HBP? Two? Three? Lastnight was obviously intentional and today he gets heat in the ribs again. At some point you have to protect your players, especially your best hitter. There, I've said my peace.

You honestly think they hit Cain on purpose in the first inning with a runner already on and only 1 out? When they’ve already lost the first two games of the series? On top of that Cain has never done anything to cause a beef with the Cards.

Nothing suggests this was intentional.

BF posters have been more Cardinal than the Cardinals lately about unwritten rules. He pitched inside and missed end of story.

Retaliation causes Chase to get tossed, bullpen drained eating 8 innings, chance of players hurt or suspended if a fight breaks out. It’s a no win for the Brewers.

He shouldn't get tossed. Precedent says warnings should be issued. If Chase gets tossed, Miles should have been tossed. Goes back to my MLB and the umps do nothing to take control of the situation comment.

With Brad Miller now playing at home in Miller Park, how many former/current major leaguers have played in a home ballpark they shared a name with (first or last name)?

Click the spoiler for four (but see if you can come up with any first). I’m not sure if there are any more than these...

Esmil Rogers, Toronto's Rogers Centre

Kevin King, Seattle's Kingdome

Chase Anderson, Arizona's Chase Field

Damian Miller, Miller Park

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Chase would not get tossed for retaliation. Warnings would be issued, words would be exchanged and that's it. You can't throw someone out for beaning someone after the other teams pitchers hit Cain multiple times and suffered no consequenses.

The Reds are on fire......leading Cubs 8-1.

Going to be a tough 4 gamer coming up

I saw they are 8-2 in their last 10 games. I was surprised to hear that. We definitely can't look past them next weekend. Gotta show the Cubs how it's done.

I don't expect a robbed homer, but anyone else we could have thrown out there would have at least had a shot at taking that one away. Thames has about a 4 inch vertical leap, if even that.

I want Thames bat in the lineup, but he shouldn't be in RF, ever. I mean, ever.

Ego is such a funny thing.

I truly want this game to end in a 1 run victory so that Matheny has to face a question from the media as to why.... when his team is 6.5 games behind Milwaukee (with maybe the best team in the NL between them as well) ... having lost 8 of 10 ... with his best pitcher on the mound to maybe right the ship ... against a MKE pitcher who is struggling with his confidence ...

... would he choose to put a Brewer on base for free simply so he could puff out his chest ... only to have that runner score and be the difference in the game.

Thanks Mike! Hope it was worth it.
