2018-06-23: Cardinals (Mikolas) at Brewers (Anderson) 3:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 3-2]

Bean ball wars are stupid. Win the game.

Chase needs to find his command.

Right about now I think Cain would disagree with you. How do you think he feels right now?

And what exactly is going to stop the Cardinals from hitting guys? MLB will do nothing until the Brewers do.

In this day and age, why is purposely throwing a potentially harmful object at someone at a near 100 mph speed still considered to be an acceptable baseball 'thing'? If you did that anywhere but on a baseball field, you'd be arrested for assault.

Right but you could say the same thing about sacking a quarterback or hacking a guy on an open layup.

He's got the lead. No reason to give them a free runner in the 2nd inning.

Better than giving up a home run. The bottom of the order isn't going to hurt him.

Did I miss something where Cain upset the Cardinals in some random past event?

I think they are just pitching inside and suck at it.

When you know a guy is going to hit a home run please let me know ahead of time.

With that said if we are going to plunk someone tonight we should have kept Boone Logan for one more outing solely for the purpose of putting one in Munoz' ribcage.

I don't think his 40mph fastball would've done much damage.

I can at least get behind those as strategy based things related to the performance of the sport.

Beanballs and hockey fights kind of ...aren't really strategy based.

I think I bought a term life insurance policy from Miles Mikolas:

It isn't just the runner with bean balls. It is the fights, ejections, ans suspensions. I would have liked to have seen a warning for Mikolas, but carry on. Score runs.

If MLB or the umps would be proactive and put an end to the stuff before it starts, it wouldn't come to that. But very, very rarely do they do anything about it.

I don't want to belabor the point any more after this, but what's it going to take before it's acceptable to retaliate? Another Cain HBP? Two? Three? Lastnight was obviously intentional and today he gets heat in the ribs again. At some point you have to protect your players, especially your best hitter. There, I've said my peace.

The Brewers probably won't do anything about it, but you know who definitely won't? Major League Baseball. If you don't want beanball wars, MLB needs to step up and say, "Hey, you hit Cain in back to back games after some animosity between him and your pitcher. Clearly something is up, here's a suspension." But that will never happen unless the Brewers drill a Cardinal.

You know when you retaliate? When you clinch a playoff spot.

You honestly think they hit Cain on purpose in the first inning with a runner already on and only 1 out? When they’ve already lost the first two games of the series? On top of that Cain has never done anything to cause a beef with the Cards.

Nothing suggests this was intentional.

BF posters have been more Cardinal than the Cardinals lately about unwritten rules. He pitched inside and missed end of story.

Retaliation causes Chase to get tossed, bullpen drained eating 8 innings, chance of players hurt or suspended if a fight breaks out. It’s a no win for the Brewers.
