The Martinez description might tell the story of our lineup tonight... "walked at least five in each of his last three appearances." Put in the patient folks...

I wouldn't be shocked to see Perez start at SS. Both Sogard and Arcia have been dreadful against Martinez career. While Perez isn't much better...he is better. I personally would put Arcia in for the defense, since you really aren't getting much with any of those 3 options. Otherwise, this looks about right.

Ha, flip Pina and Sogard and you nailed it! The theory behind it was dead on, nice call!

Wonderful, another starter that consistently destroys us.
Little chance of that tonight.

Martinez has not found his control since coming off the DL. In his last start we out-hit the opps 11-4 and lost 6-3. He WILL walk 'ya if you let him.

Things to watch out for: Carpenter and Molina are raking but Dexter Fowler has become a waste of human protoplasm. The team as a whole is at the bottom of the stat sheet in RISP, base stealing, men lost on base and triples (3) and I don't think there's a single .300 hitter, maybe one on the bench.

It's a minor miracle that the team is above .500 and I will be thrilled if the Cards can manage a split.

Brad Miller is in Des Moines this weekend. Give him a call eh Stearns?
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Braun Update:
Braun is back from his cryotherapy procedure on his right thumb but out of the lineup, with Eric Thames playing LF. "He'll kind of take it easy today," manager Craig Counsell said. "He's available if we need him. Everything went well."

AKA "He'll be on the DL in a day or two."

He can take Pina with him.
