Augie just said Pissburgh..... Good grief.

:laughing

He's the gift that keeps on giving. Genuinely seems like a good guy, though. I guess I'm a softy but Davey Nelson's passing has given me a new appreciation of Augie.

Doubling up on LHB to start sure helps hurdle later in the game

I think worrying about L-R-L-R matchups to start a game can be a little overblown. I'll take the sure matchups being in our favor to start the game. If they bring in a lefty to face Thames later, because we've stacked the lineup with lefties to start, that generally means we have at least two of Braun, Aguilar, and Santana available to pinch hit off the bench. The depth on this roster really nullifies that concern. The L-R-L-R comes more into play when you know your bench options aren't strong enough to warrant taking the starter out to create a better match up later in the game.

Should be fun to play this game on a crap field, fly from Pittsburgh to Milwaukee, lose an hour on the flight, then play another game at Miller Park, all within the next 24 hours. Thanks for not doing getaway games during the day like pretty much every other team in baseball, Pirates.

I'm away from Wisconsin and trying to follow the game on ESPN.com. Any idea how long the rain delay will be?

Would not count on this game being played tonight.

Current field status...

From Adam McCalvy...

The field is flooded. The dugouts are flooded. It is after 9 p.m. ET. It is pouring. Chad Kuhl is still in the Pirates bullpen waiting to warm up, where he's been waiting for two hours. We should go home.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Officially postponed.

Good. They’ll be somewhat rested for tomorrow’s St. Louis game.

They could be at home in Milwaukee by now if Pittsburgh played their getaway games at 1 like everyone else.

Gotta say I'm okay not facing Kuhl tonight.

Hopefully this game is played later in the year when the Brewers have beefed up with trades and the Pirates are fading...

They got 4 at Pittsburgh right before the AS break. Think they'll try to squeeze a doubleheader in there somewhere.

The Brewers also play @Pitt Sept 21-23. Both teams have Sept 20 off. I was thinking that would be the day to avoid a DH.

My guess is Thursday, September 20th which is an off day before a series in Pittsburgh.

Seconding a previous poster, I can't fathom how they didn't decide to cancel this game sooner. What the actual heck Pissburgh? Your tunnels are flooding with poop water, and you're like "what the heck, let's try to get this one in!"

oh well, our bullpen will be REALLY rested against the cards.

also will they start suter tmrw and move everyone back a day, or just skip suters start

I would guess bump everyone back. Suter has actually been throwing very well lately. We also have had an unusual run of deep starts, quite a few over 100 pitches, guessing the extra day would be good.

Yep that's what they are doing per McCalvey

Brewers starters vs. Cardinals: Suter, Guerra, Anderson, Chacin. So, everyone bumps back a day. No info beyond that, so TBD on Freddy Peralta’s next outing.

I was going to say hopefully they'll have the division wrapped up by then, but now a moot point with the makeup in July.
