Wow, we really are due against this guy:

5/6/18 - 7 IP, 0 ER (Pirates win 9-0)

7/17/17 - 5.2 IP, 2 ER (Pirates win 4-2)

6/20/17 - 5 IP, 2 ER (Pirates win 7-3)

5/5/17 - 3 IP, 0 ER (Pirates win 4-0)

8/25/16 - 6.1 IP, 2 ER (Pirates win 3-2)

9/21/16 - 6 IP, 1 ER (Pirates win 4-1)

Let's drop a 3 spot on him in the first tonight!

I did pick up Kuhl in my fantasy league, though I hope he gives up 10 runs and destroys my ratios.

This is one of two 2018 end of road trip night games where there’s a home game the next day. And there’s an 80% chance of rain. And the next opponent is St. Louis. And St. Louis is playing a day game ahead of their trip to Milwaukee so they’ll be the more rested team on Thursday. Thanks a lot, Pittsburgh schedulers!

They were mentioning on radio last night how Pittsburgh doesn't do the "last game of the series is a day game" scheduling. I just hope other teams pass on that same favor to them.

Looking at the Pirates’ schedule, they schedule day games if THEY have a road game the next day but not if the opponent has to travel to a game to take place the next day. What crap.

Was Braun out of the lineup yesterday as well? Any word why he's missed multiple games if that indeed is the case?

Braun pinch hit for the pitcher in the 9th last night and grounded out.

My guess is it's because he has 2 hits in his last 18 ABs with no walks and CC wants to get Thames in the lineup without benching Aguilar.

Haven't seen any injury stuff for Braun. could simply trying to ride the hot hands and R/L as much as possible? Just like so many fans preemptively claimed he wouldn't do? He's been hitting it hard but results haven't been there. Can't really sit Jesus after last night and I've liked what Thames has looked like lately. Don't recall the results last night from him but thought I remembered some hard hits.

As I recall the injection for his thumb doesn't keep him out too long.

I don't blame them for wanting to get a runner on in front of the two best hitters. Thames should keep a good OBP. I see both sides of course but I don't think it's anything to get too worked up about.

For Braun, I know this is planned maintenance but I kind of thought they'd have done this again when he was on the DL. Of course IDK exactly how it works. Maybe it's not really useful until a certain point so it would have been pointless to do it a month ago.

Doubling up on LHB to start sure helps hurdle later in the game

The only lefty the Pirates have in their pen is Vazquez. He's probably only coming in for the 9th inning anyway.

Good point. It’s still annoying to do against other teams though.
