Is Eric FREAKING Sogard the best we can do for a pinch hitter? Does any other team in MLB pinch hit a guy hitting .115?

EDIT: DOH!

It's the 7th inning, leading off the inning, with a 3-0 game. You want to use the best PH bat in that situation?! Or do you want to hope for a situation where Braun or Shaw can get an AB with a few runners on.

I want the team to be in a position that a guy like Sogard is never used to pinch hit, ever, in any situation...

Dodgers loaded the bases with nobody out in the second against the Cubs and didn’t score.

Montgomery racking up a ton of pitches early tonight for the Cubs, who basically used every prominent reliever aside from Morrow in the earlier game today and lost - hoping he either gets hung out to dry during a big Dodger inning, or gets an early hook to further gas a bullpen that won't see another off day until July 2nd.

If they have any home games all it takes is a sprinkle to have a rainout.

They are just about out of future off days for that cute option to occur - faking one now screws them even more later. Even after their doubleheader today, the Brewers have 3 games on them in hand due to other legit rainouts early in the year when there are already a bunch of extra days off compared to now through the end of the season.

Not so good rehab start for Davies. 1.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R/ER, 1 BB, 2 K. Not sure what the targeted pitch count was, but actual was 31. I'd have to believe it was targeted to be much more than that. 30 IP is usually for the first couple outings after coming back from major surgery.

Peralta might be here for a while.

I try not to look into those number too much. We will see what comes of it, but you are rehabbing...not exactly trying to win. It is much like ST where you may just be working on certain things.

I’d have to think he would really have to bomb his rehab games to not get a rotation spot

I think the Jeffress to the ASG can be put to rest.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.
