All-Stars: Prince batting 6th; Peavy starting

crossface21

As for another "snub", I think you have to mention John Maine (if he hasn't already been mentioned, I'm just joining the discussion 7 pages into the thread).

W/L - 9-4

ERA - 2.74

SO - 84

WHIP - 1.15

I don't know if the point has been made, and maybe this is blasphemous, but if we're looking strictly at numbers, there are probably 3 guys that belong ahead of Sheets. I think Sheets just gets the extra "bump" because he is the ace of a young, exciting team. It's exciting as a Brewers fan, but I'm just not sure if it's entirely fair.

late to the thread...

Wow! Four All-Stars was my 'best case' hope, but now it's great to see it come true! Four AS's for any team not in NY, Bos, or LA, let alone our Brewers. 2007 gets better and better.

I believe both the managers and players can select pitchers. According to this MLB.com article, the players select 8 position players and 8 pitchers, with the managers filling out the rest of the 7 spots.

It looks like all four Brewers reps were picked by the players. Nice to see the other players in the league are recognizing what the Brew Crew is doing. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

This is the most trivial of trivia, but has any other team ever sent three different closers to the ASG in a four-year span? On a less trivial note, I sure hope what happened to the last two in the second halves of those years doesn't happen to Cordero.

Ok, so this may be trivial, but did anyone else notice right after Princes at bat last night during the home run derby they listed the brewers all stars. They had very nice graphics and listed Prince, J.J., and Sheets. No mention what so ever of CoCo and they kept saying "The brewers three all stars"

I'm going down to the Embarcadero today at lunch for the "Red Carpet Parade" of All-Stars heading to AT&T and was thinking of bring a sign that says: "JJ, You Can Warm Up With Me Anytime!"

(Hey, we are in San Francisco...)

Marleyboo, I didn't catch the graphic, but it was mentioned somewhere on these forums. Maybe the Home Run Derby Game thread?

I just came back from the All-Star Red Carpet Parade during my lunch hour and I gotta say, it was really cool, much more fun than I expected. I'm usually pretty blase about this stuff but that brought out the kid in me.

I was near the front and right at the fence so I was really close to all the players. I was wearing my Brewers hat and bellowing to the Crew players that cruised by in the pickup trucks with their families (I even told Carlos Lee that "I still love ya Caballo!" and he smiled and laughed and nodded at me).

Big Ben yelled "Brewers fan!" and his wife threw me a t-shirt, and when JJ went by I did in fact yell that he could warm up with me anytime and he laughed and tossed me an All-Star soft ball. You could tell those guys were having a great time.

Coco had his entire brood on the back of his truck (he nodded solemnly with a tight smile when I told him to "Shut 'em down tonight, Coco!" The guy next to him was laughing and giving thumbs up. Prince seemed pretty non-plussed by the whole thing and just gave me a stoic nod when I shouted "MVP!" His kid was having fun though.

I took a few so-and-so photos, including a funny one of JJ actually tossing me the ball, but I don't have the driver on my work computer here to upload them, and probably won't get to it until later tonight since the game starts at 5:45 my time and I'll be racing home from work.

The parade actually has me pretty fired up for the game...for the first time since the 2002 change, I feel like the Crew could really benefit from what happens tonight and the season so far just has me much more amped than usual.

great post, Series. Can't wait to see your pics! Gotta love our boys, esp. Benny. What a character! Rare to find that great of a person in pro sports. We're very lucky.

EDIT: I know each team gets one AS rep, but the fact that Freddy Sanchez is in over Aramis Ramirez is an absolute joke. "Snub" doesn't even come close to describing that...how 'bout 'screwed'? Especially since Sanchez plays mostly at 2B at this point. Xavier Nady could have been their lone rep (in the OF), and he's having a far superior year to Sanchez.

As much as I despise Aramis, he's one of the most explosive hitters in the game (& I do admit to enjoying watching him hit). His 2007 has been stellar thus far, and his numbers are better than many NL AS's, and on a par with most of the rest.

in Sanchez's defense, I would venture a guess that he got in on the player's vote. And, highly likely, many of the players were like, "eh, I don't know who to pick on the Pirates. I mean, c'mon, they're the PIRATES. Hey, Johnny! Who was that guy on the Pirates that hit so well last year? Sandwich? What?!? Oh, Sanchez! Sorry about that! Thanks for the help!"

Personally, Snell or Gorzelanny should've been the Pirates' rep.

Here are the pics (I don't know the resize code, sorry!):

Prince and the fam...his kid looks confused here

Big Ben

Coco...at least his arm! He's behind the sign. I never got another one of him since I was going too crazy yelling at him to "Shut 'em down, man, shut 'em down!"

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/SeriesFinale75/Coco.jpg

Here was El Caballo (the only non-Brewer pic I took)...another crummy one since I was too busy talking at him when he came by. The truck driver's happy though!

Here's JJ...you can see the ball in the second one and my thumb reaching for it

Dial-up. It took 11 minutes for them to load. I wanted to make sure everything was the right size so I wouldn't mess them up. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
