what about steven matz of the mets

I'd stay far away from Matz. After his significant injuries, he's not the promising young pitcher he was 2-3 years ago. His decent ERA is not supported by his peripherals, and he averages less than 5.0 per start.

Our entire farm. Man Mets could flip that farm upside down trading their startingg pitching

For Matz, we'll probably have to give up Hader, Arcia, Hiura, Lutz, Burnes...add in Ray and Supak as apparent filler to put it over the top.

Why do so many of you think we'd have to give up our entire farm for 1 good pitcher? When in the last handful of years have we seen a massive haul for a SP? The Chris Sale trade is the only one, and Chris Sale is far superior to Degrom and his contract situation was far more team friendly. I'll also add that pretty much everyone thought that trade was a massive overpay at the time of trade. Matz would command far less than Degrom or Syndergaard, as he has major injury concerns and hasn't shown more than a mid-rotation ceiling.

Because he is a cheap young talented pitcher. Let's not forget this guy was a top 15 prospect a few years back. Same could have been say about Zack Wheeler. We almost gave up Gomez (who was incredible at that time) for a guy who received TJ surgery that year and Wilmer Flores.

Feel free to present what you think is a fair offer for matz

I don't think we should be trading for a starter unless its a clear upgrade. Matz is injury prone and very hittable. PASS

I tend to agree with this. I'd prefer to target more proven players, the injury history is very concerning. I think my package might be burnes, Henry, and a flier. If they don't like Henry maybe burnes and Philips for Matz and a sogard replacement.

But again I'll add I don't think I'd target Matz.

His arsenal is completely changed from when he looked like a possible future TOR pitcher though.

Here is where I am. He is fine, but not enough of an upgrade to spend assets on.

Plus, his stats won't look so good if he can't pitch against the Brewers. :tongue
