Is Ace Chanderson back?

BrewersAA
Was ridiculously lucky last year. FB/HR ratio was one of the best in the entire majors. Uptick in velocity was there but was overstated considering most pitchers added about 2 mph due to the new measuring system. Is basically just a better version of the 2015-16 Chase, but still the same basic pitcher.

Yes he gave up little in the HR department last, but that is such a small part of the formula. I bet a career low K rate and career high walk rate are probably bigger problems for Chase Anderson than a fluky HR stat.

Love how people bag him after a bad start..... say it before.

I think the hot takes after one good/bad start either way are probably getting to be a bit much. We had a Wade Miley apology thread after one single Miley start.

I was wrong on a lot preseason (Chacin) but I was pretty accurate with Chase. I was expecting a 4.00 ERA season from him. I think his best baseball for 2018 is ahead of him, but anybody that really thought this guy was a sub 3 starter was dreaming. He's just not that guy.

I believe at one point yesterday the Phils had 6 runs on 6 hits with 0 LOB. Sometimes there's a very fine line between a good and bad outing.

How is it one bad start? He's had several, and it's not just a knee-jerk response to one bad outing. Several of us called Chase a major regression candidate from the start. Unlike Nelson, Chase just doesn't have the periphals or the dynamic stuff to sustain his 2017 numbers.

I guess you have to beat the drum that you actually get right. Throw enough crap at the wall and eventually something sticks.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I don't think being skeptical of Chase Anderson qualifies as throwing crap at a wall. I think it was probably far, far more likely that this type of season happened than he'd repeat last year's anomaly. It's essentially been a wash since he and Chacin are pitching like a lot of people inversely expected them to.

Yea, this has nothing to do with Monday morning QBing. If anything, judging by this thread alone, some people over-reacted to one great start.

I never expected him to repeat his 2017 season, and that's fine. But he has to be better and more consistent than he's been so far this year. And THAT I do think is still possible.
