Albers to DL with shoulder injury.....Lopez recalled from AAA

Well I'd guess it's not a clear injury and more of a toss him a rest situation and last night was the telltale sign of it as opposed to going into knowing of an injury. As someone said in another thread the velocity was down. Maybe a legit injury is there we'll see, but my guess it's just a dead arm, sore shoulder, etc and this is to just get a break

Perfect opportunity to call up Miller and it’s wasted.

They had that chance a day or two ago, could have optioned Sogard or Arcia. If they didn't do it then no real reason to think they won't use the whole 10 days.

Unfortunately the way things went last night, probably need the extra pen arm.

They could be giving Miller some time in the minors to reacquaint himself with playing SS. That was my guess since he hasn't played there since 2016.

If CC knew he was hurt he wouldn't have been out there at all.

Yep. These guys are so competitive that they always try to play though it... but they need to realize that the next guy up is usually better at 100% than they are at 75%.

because the other recall candidates have been stretched out recently as starters, lopez has benefited as being the sole rested experienced bullpen arm the club can call on.

aaron wilkerson (threw 5.1 innings on 8 june)

alec asher (threw 7.0 innings on 9 june)

brandon woodruff (threw 4.0 innings on 10 june)

adrian houser (threw 5.0 innings on 11 june)

with freddy peralta also starting (threw 6.0 innings on 10 june), it's kind of risky for the brewers to have so many 40-man guys stretched out as starters if a reliever goes down.

Wilkerson pitched on the 8th. With this 5 man rotation (including Freddie), it basically guarantees one or two of them are always available for a callup. Doesn't seem to be too bad of a situation.

I'm just happy we have 5 or 6 solid pitchers that we can call up to fill a role - all on the 40 man. That is unprecedented as far as I can recall in Brewers history. Not including Burns, Derby, Perrin, Ortiz who could be added and would seem to be good options as well.

i forgot about wilkerson being on the 40-man, probably because i was only focusing on experienced guys who have been recalled this season.

it's a gamble . . . they might be able to recall a guy who's scheduled to throw a bullpen that day, but then he's likely unavailable for the next day or two. starting friday, the brewers play 10 straight days, so it could be risky if a bullpen arm goes down. i say risky in that there could be logistical challenges in getting a guy from the colorado springs club in time, especially given that four of those next 10 games are day games. fortunately, seven of the 10 are in milwaukee.
