Seems odd to sort of “go for it” in the top half offensively playing the weather, then bring in Jennings....

 

Counsell has been all over the place with his game management today. I totally agree with the call to 'go for it' in the 5th, but then he brings in Perez. Then to preserve that lead he goes with Dan Jennings. Just baffling management on his part today.

I don't really care for either, but Jennings isn't a LOOGY. Doesn't have LOOGY splits at all, never has. Up until this year anyway.

Jennings has been good this year. Even that inning was 1 hit 1 walk. We just had better options in a game that might not go 9

 

He has been really, really bad the last couple weeks, and should not be your first option in a 2-1 game that you're playing as a late inning game.

Even if Jennings isn’t a true Loogy he should face more lefties. Bring him in middle innings where 2/3 due up are lefties. We’ve just been throwing him out there for full innings and the splits now aren’t great.
