New England isn't typically a hotbed for high school pitching talent, though a good arm comes from the region from time to time. In this year's Draft class, right-hander Mike Vasil is the top talent, even with his injury, and while Hajjar isn't in the same conversation, he is the best left-hander from the area.

Aside from his left-handedness, Hajjar has size, stuff and projectability working in his favor. The 6-foot-4 southpaw has room to grow into his frame, which means there could me more to his fastball in the future, which he can throw anywhere from 86 to 93 mph, sitting comfortably right around 89-90 mph. His slider projects as at least average, if not more, once he tightens it more consistently. It can have some slurve action to it, but it has enough depth to be a potential swing and miss pitch. He doesn't use a changeup at all and hasn't needed it at his high school level. He has a funky delivery, all arms and legs, which adds deception, but he still throws strikes.

Scouts have watched Hajjar carefully, particularly since last summer's Area Code Games, and were running in to see him as the weather warmed in New England. He's committed to the University of Michigan, but a team might be willing to gamble on his upside from the left side to take him early enough to sign.

Joey Baran, a LHP/outfielder, will be attending NCAA Division I Penn State University, a member of the Big Ten Conference. Baran, a graduate of Hazelton High School, transferred to Lackawanna this fall after spending two years at Stony Brook University. As a freshman, he threw 21.2 innings with 14 strikeouts and had an ERA of 3.74. At the plate he made 11 starts and hit .243. As a sophomore he received a medical redshirt.

2018 #Arkansas RHP/OF commit Wade Beasley of Horatio with a nice breaking ball that freezes the batter for a strikeout

A with good amount of hitters taken last year & with DSL guys starting to push up.... guess Brewers feel they need to fill a bunch of pitching spots. Only 7 position players taken with 6 likely to sign through round 24.

Have to figure some college bats will start coming to fill Helena’s roster

Another @PBRFlorida ProCase participant Pablo Garabitos is selected in 25th round to #Brewers. Interesting though, announced as CF. He's very athletic and upside, would be two-way guy if he makes it to @USFBaseball.

Schanuel was drafted twice before ending up at Iowa. Has been a starter and reliever. Better in relief when fastball up to 93-96. Flashes average slider and changeup but needs to work on delivery.

Brady Schanuel is a high upside RHP with a FB that sits 91-93, an average changeup, and a potentially average slider. The big issue is his 20 command. Tools are there to be a top 10 round guy. Future likely lies in the pen where he hit 95 at the end of the year #Brewers #MLBDraft

Young arms like crazy right now! Garabitos very interesting & of pitchers outside of Hajjar, has the most tempting commitment. South Florida is pretty good program. Now seen him listened as pitcher & CF. Beasley as well with Arkansas but being home schooled, going to school for first time on a giant campus you’d think would be tougher transition.

Be really interested to see which of these kids sign. We need to infuse system with young arms. Lemons, Murphy, Lazar, Bullock, & Lillis could use some more company

Brewers love the Island, Rios is okay bat. Averaged around .285 over 3 years. Not much power or slugging but walks just as much as he ks. Both average around 15% of the time

29 (875): @Brewers select Montverde Academy (FL) SS Nander De Sedas. http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/262722544/v1868818783 … #MLBDraft

Back in 2011, a young shortstop came out of Montverde High School in Florida and ended up going No. 8 overall to the Cleveland Indians. While he had a long way to go before earning a true comp to All-Star Francisco Lindor, De Sedas' strong summer had him brought up in the conversation for more reasons than just attending the same high school, though an uneven spring has cooled his projections considerably.

The raw tools are still there for De Sedas to be a successful middle infielder at the next level, but he hasn't put them to consistent use in his senior year. He has plus raw power and has shown the wherewithal to tap into it in games at times in the past. He hasn't shown the same advanced approach he had over the summer, but the skills are there to hit for average and tap into that raw power. Relatively new to switch-hitting, his left-handed swing needs work. De Sedas has a very strong arm and good hands, which gives him the chance to stick at short. His lack of speed could eventually necessitate a move to third.

De Sedas' summer moved him way up on Draft lists and raised the level of expectations considerably, but he didn't come out and perform as hoped this spring. A team that feels it can help him unlock those raw tools consistently will still take him early enough to keep him from heading to Florida State.

Nander De Sedas finally comes off the board in the 29th to the #Brewers. Impact tools with pop from both sides; won't be signing. #mlbdraft

This shouldn't surprise anyone but nonetheless.
